This is the 3rd time it has happened to me now. I've purchased something from an Australia website, that hold themselves out as holding it in stock. They make no mention of the fact they don't hold the stock or that they are ordering it in when you order it. So I've paid my money and after a week of not receiving it or tracking info, I follow up and get told they don't have stock and are waiting on it. Usually in a condesending BS tone.

First time was about a 3 week wait.
2nd occasion (admittedly from the same website, so maybe I'm the slow learner) was about 3 months.
3rd time, now from another website... its been over 3 weeks and Im told it is shipping from the US. Although it still hasn't been picked up by a courier. Apparently the labour day long weekend is to blame...

I appreciate, it's a niche car with low volumes in aftermarket parts. But how about they put that on the website and let us make an informed decision prior to purchasing. Sometimes I would wait, others I wouldn't.

So from now on I'm verifying that they have it on the shelf before I purchase anything.

This happens in the U.K. to regarding anything you buy online , Ineos related or not. Very annoying.

Same mate, I called Rubbertree for deep dish mats and they said they were in stock and would ship that week. The website said on back order but I decided to take the voice over the phones word. Turns out I shouldn't have. Over a month later they turned up. Pretty good fit and do the job but transparency would be nice

It has been very common since the lock downs and not limited to car parts.

Bicycle parts just the same. Fine print saying that some items may be directly despatched from the manufacturer, takes a week plus for even a despatch notification.

Meanwhile Amazon, do you want it before 1300 tomorrow?

It's the new way of selling online, have an online store but no stock, wait for orders to come in and then order from supplier/manufacturer with a direct delivery.

Who said the Internet wouldn't be great 🤣
