I was checking out the under carriage today and noticed this “linkage” arm on the transmission but its not connected to anything. Does anyone know what it is?

It's a transmission parking pawl mechanical release lever carried over with the transmission for other vehicles. Not connected on Grenadier or QM.
Whilst it would function to release the parking pawl, the approved method to get a disabled vehicle into neutral so it can be moved is via the stop bolt located on the transfer case - as documented in the owner's manual.

Thank you so much! Was getting worried for a second. Guess the other thing I need to figure out now is why my low range shifter cable doesnt have the metalic sleeving, noticed on various videos and pics others are shielded.

Thank you again and have an awesome weekend!

Cheers!

Happy to help 👍

The foil shield seems to have been introduced on later builds. I'll take a guess it's to reduce the lubricant drying out in the cable. @anand may have more info when that foil started. I wouldn't be too concerned.

It's already Saturday afternoon here and my weekend is on track to be awesome - thank you. Adding another Anderson plug to my camper today so I can run a portable diesel heater from outside and seeing MI #8 on the big screen tomorrow.
