Does anybody have the drawings of the chassis for the quartermaster they can share? Im looking to have a custom tray made up to replace the well side tub and need to look at clearances as I don't want a "flat deck" as per the traditional Ausie work truck. I want to get the load area as low as possible and almost bench like channels ( like the old defenders) with my split box setup on either side. I use mine as a work truck and the lower section in the middle might not seem like much to most but it's valuable to preserving my back in loading things. that area reserved for the toolbox ladder box makes a hell of a difference when loading heavy components. Had this done on my previous ute aas a pull out platform and it made life so easy. simple on a well known platform not so much when you don't have the measurements. any help appreciated. No don't have access to the service manual either as NZ seems to be the last on the list to get access.

Reach out to UTE Master in NZ, they might be able to help. Also Black Sheep seems to be doing something similar for their QM.

They will only help if they get to do the build, sorry to say but they are in it to milk every cent with quotes in the range of $30K supply only, I have an estimate of $8900 fitted from the same crowd that did my Hilux and that lasted so Its not that I'm paying for an inferior product but Its on me to get the support information. even if its 30% over the estimate its still less than half the price. Im willing to do a bit of the run around to save $15K. I know why its cheaper I can specify the load carry ability where the off the shelf options are take it or leave it and can handle loads of 2ton and I don't need that or ever any more than 1 ton so why pay for the over engineering where an ally cab ends up at 3-400KG. look at the Ronny Dhal setup looks great but man the weight is crazy.

Below is not a rant but more and think about it:

Using 3 mm ally on everything deck rated to carry 2 ton, then go spend another $3+to upgrade the suspension just to carry the load. sorry but there are way better options. like 2 weight bearing lines with 4 cross members all welded mounted to 6 points ( the same 6 ) for the flat deck but don't need risers as its lower downed forms part of the structure. 4 bearers each side to higher outside above the wheel line you don't need to make these 2 ton rated they will at best carry 300KG a side. its in the been there done that and its a compromise at best at 3 times the price. 25mm x 2mm round tube x 4 will carry almost a tome of dynamic (static is way more but I'm not after static load calculations) load on the outer most edge. weight of the 4 bars each side with a full length side bar under 13KG ill take a bet the ute master one is 40+kg excluding the side to side supports for the hanger blocks. the advantage of custom built vs off the shelf one size fits all. the deck is part of the box structure so a lower centre of gravity for heavy loads.

draw backs: there is no free lunch: wheel arches its not a flat platform can be if you want but mine is a service body not a canopy and this does not suit everybody. spare wheel mounted behind the cab hope I never need it when fully loaded but its the risk I'm willing to take. weight from spare moved to front /above axle not 1m behind so it carries its weight better at the same time. yesterday I cannot grossly over load the deck like a flat deck well that's the point if its that heavy hook up a trailer. its fully custom you can just bolt on and bolt of willy nilly you better make sure you get it right the first time.
I can load a higher load in the centre than the boxed roof allows but I don't have a full platform on the roof for a tent but a removable center load platform solves that issue I did one with the Hilux used it once so won't do that again.

Pros that's not mentioned above yet:
Im not wasting the center load area that you cannot get to with a full cab. I get two drawers at the back instead of awkward little triangle boxes and don't lose a mm in departure angle either and things don't fallout once you have been on a bit of rough track. I'm not top heavy since I have easy access to the centre and can pack a pretty big tent in there instead of a roof top tent ( more than one if I want) fuel 99% of the time I don't need the extra range if I do that center section takes a lot think easily 204l drum of diesel not that I ever would but If I need to I canned still have space for more than 1 tent and the weight is centre above the axle bot behind it and I'm still in gross vehicle weight and so easy to secure. what you do in the service boxes that's up yo each but they are only 2mm more than strong enough to take all the abuse I ever need and lower centre of gravity again. I don't need to add a camera if I want to see out the back the rear view mirror still works.

To me the pros far outweigh the cons and it cost less. yes it takes a bit from my side but I have quite a bit of camping money left.
