I have developed not only an audible clunk but something that can be felt through the steering and body of the car over bumps but also when turning right. You can see heaps of movement in the drag link and where it hit making sound and movement.
Gradually getting worse. Took it to dealer who agreed something not right. Put a ticket into Ineos who apparently came back and said it's normal. You have to be kidding, the dealer even took video footage of it.
Has anyone else experience this issue I've driven other Grenadiers and this is not normal.
I know this problem has appeared in the US.

Hi @Shepps. New member and your first post. Welcome to the forum. Strap yourself in. @TheDocAUS will be along shortly to load you up with all the new member info you can eat.

Two possibilities for you to check out:

1. Some owners had their steering column replaced due to a faulty lower bearing. I don't recall the specific symptoms but a search for steering column should get you close. I think there was some clunking during steering wheel rotation.

2. There has been a few reported cases where the drag link and track rod have contacted. Pic attached. Seems to affect RH drive mostly (or exclusively) due to the different arrangement of steering components. I don't recall any reports from LHD markets.
I had this issue but didn't notice a corresponding noise or bump during operation. Test for it by lying under the front and twisting the drag link on its ball joints. If it clunks against the track rod then congratulations you're a member of the club. The fix is to reposition the (canted) drag link so it is further away from the track rod. Needs 2x 36mm and 1x 46mm open end spanners or crows feet to back off the jam nuts on the drag link barrel then rotate the long side of the drag link to shift the ball joint angle and add some more clearance from the track rod. That makes much more sense when you're looking at it. Use big shifters if you're less pedantic. Or, get your agent to sort it out. Don't rotate the drag link barrel on the threads or the steering wheel centering will go out.

Bonus round:
While you're under the front give the protective tube on the steering damper a shake to make sure it's not loose. Several reports of that cover breaking loose.
Different symptoms to yours but easy to check while you're laying on your back.

No it's not right. I had the same when my dealer adjusted the steering linkage after I took it in for alignment. If you check the linkage, you may see where it is touching to cause the CLUNK. Take it back to them and ask for a factory alignment.
