Hi all, lots of searching and some open threads leaves me wanting to check this.

Has anyone successfully connected a solar panel (via MPPT unit) directly into one of the Ext plugs and had safe, successful battery charging?

I can see a lot of comments about this being possible, but the threads typically end without a conclusion or proven use case (happy to be direct to ones that do).

Context
I have the quartermaster trialmaster with dual battery set up. I picked up a nice little fold out solar blanket, 200W with MPPT unit. Plan was to swap out the Anderson to Deutsch and utilise Ext input on roof to plug in, currently have one spare, other running the fridge. Just looking for a top up on those longer hunting trips. Recently loading up meat, few days out saw my battery dip down for the first time and realised I need to have a bit more up my sleeve.

Not looking for a permanent connection, just simple plug and play when needed approach.

Thanks all,
Levi

Should be fine so long as your mppt is upstream of the Deutsch connector. IE install MPPT controller on the roof between panel and Deutsch connector. If MPPT controller is already connected to solar blanket you are fine so long as amps are in line with EXT circuit
