Knowing all that I know now about the Grenadier yes I’d buy another one. There’s nothing else out there that fits my use case.

That said I’ve probably got off pretty lightly with regards to teething issues. All I’ve had is leaking door seals, fouling track rods and rattling heat shields all of which have been fixed. I do agree the HVAC system as a bit of a learning curve but for me 90% of the time setting it at 21° and auto does the job. I just wish they’d be able to sort out the audio system automatically hooking up to CarPlay first thing in the morning is very hit and miss. Now if INEOS could speed up the online workshop manual response and release a scan tool I’d be real happy.

Can someone summarize this drive shaft issue? I've had my Grenadier on order for a few months now and is on track for March 2026... I am aware of the quirks and okay with them. They aren't deal breakers... especially when my current 2021 Subaru dies at a stop light due to failure of auto start/stop crashes and deadlines the vehicle into a brick while 50 cars behind me honk as I restart the whole thing.

Simple, crap design, way to much angle on the front drive shaft at the diff, can’t lift them and have any form of longevity , even at standard height they wear excessively fast, highly likely to fail and leave you stranded if you ignore the warning signs and don’t check them regularly

Uhhh that sounds like a serious issue....Has there been a proposed solution?
 
My grandma doesn't go on about it being better in the olden days, born in 1920, so 1925-45 would have been her early days of memories she talks about. Sleeping 5 to a bed, then living with relatives round the corner as house too small and then working in factories during the war. Watching the Lancasters go out and waiting for them to come in. So maybe not that far back, the '80's would do for me.
My old man was born in the early 1920s and lived to 100. While he had begun to complain about the way of the world today he never longed for the way things were when he was young. His early life was hard as nails and many he knew didn't make it past their first dozen birthdays or reach adulthood unscathed. His father was born four decades earlier and it was even rougher.

I, on the other hand, can dabble in the romanticism of the past out of deference for those that lived through it or for mere shits & giggles as I please. The perspective I've gained from knowing a little of what they went through is a treasure I hold dear. That I can escape those hardships to a future they never dreamed of is just damned good luck.

The Grenadier gives me a little of both I guess; the old and the new.

Keep perspective on it, how many of us are on the forum verses how many are on this thread and then how many are here because of a fail and how many just worry. I think there are far far more of out there enjoying there vehicle than reading this thread and increasing their anxiety.
There is a far bigger chance you will be ok, I'm a worrier who wants to know there is a solution available rather than all this slagging off of Ineos

Agree and mine has failed, that was at 56000kms with a lift, had worse with less kms on different vehicles, annoying and frustrating yes but do I dislike it, no.
If I get the same out of Rzeppa or a new shaft I will be happy.

Not a show stopper…
 
I've been on the fence since the pre-production days and finally got around to test-driving one this past week. The steer-by-wire does take some time to adjust, but not huge. However, despite SIr Jim's original design ethos of building a purpose-built vehicle along the lines of the old Defender, the amount of electronics the Grenny has is concerning to me. I suppose that's unavoidable today.

This thread has been informative, but, if anything, it may be pushing me to the side of buying an old Defender 110 and resto-modding it over buying a more 'modern' vehicle. The other thing that's clear for my situation is that I can't daily drive a Gren, as my daily has to be a low ground clearance vehicle, so the Gren would be like my Range Rover Classic, for going off-road.

I do hope the IG succeeds, but I guess only time will tell.
