Snapped abs cable

Did that on my old defender with a stick..

What did the car do? just no ETC ABS etc, did it still allow you to use the lockers?

Did not need lockers
Anything associated with speed not available
Not yet fixed. Soon I hope
Coincidental timing. Based on a similar question in another thread I slid under my vehicle this morning to check out the diff lock and wheel speed sensor wiring. They share a harness along the left side frame rail until the lower trailing arm mount then the wiring separates. You would be unlucky to snag the harness before it splits, and similarly unlucky if the same stick took out both sets of wires but they do run parallel along the upper trailing arm.

I'm of the opinion that the diff lock should still operate but the switch light will stay on flash because a wheel speed signal is missing. The sensors confirm that the axles are rotating at the same speed (lock) or different speeds (unlock) to control the switch light. However, this will be wrong if IA have applied a logic rule that disables the diff locks if there is an error on the wheel speed circuit. In other words, it could work but the software prevents it.

Hi @Ken Amos. It would be very informative if you or your agent could run a quick test to see if the diff lock will still operate with a faulty (open circuit) wheel speed sensor. It could be tested easily on a 2 post hoist and observe if the axle locks after the switch is selected and the wheels are rotated by hand.
