I drive a Touarek and have no side steps. I got this portable step because I often have to attach things to the roof rack. I have had very good experiences with this. Simply hooked into the door lock. It is not an entry aid but maybe this is an alternative for the roof loading for you.

Crikey that looks like a very good idea. I normally just perch my toes on the door lock ring and faff around with one hand and hope for the best. I'll be buying one of these for the current cars.

Thank you for the link

I've asked INEOS and got the following reply:

âHi, we wouldn't recommend to use the rock-slider as a side step as it doesn't have any stepping surface and the small space between the rock slider and the door makes it uncomfortable to go in and out of the cabin."
That is absolutly true. At the driving event yesterday they had cars with rock sliders and with side steps. No chance to step on a rock slider. If you want to reach the roof, the side steps are much more comfortable. According to the dealer both parts are not mounted in the factory by Ineos, but later at the dealers garage. So it is easy to get them changed.

@amglounge fully support your statement. Was unsure about both options and have looked at them closely at demo event yesterday.
I‘ve now decided on the steps as more family and wife friendly. And practical to reach roof rack. Visually the steps were not mounted „to low“ as I had the impression in some of the pictures before.

Rock sliders for me, and who knows there might be a little after market step to bolt on to the rock slider for the wife like as on the Land Rover above

with those two items you can rebuild a roman chariot... Any idea how you can make them spin?

These are the sliders on my 88” Series - they have jack-point holes built in. There’s a little adapter that attaches to your hilift and slides right into holes. I would love similar rock sliders on the IG.

If AMP were able to produce a set of these for the Grenadier I would cancel my OEM side steps. They look really good but I can’t see them producing anything for the Grenadier in the next 12 months or so. Will send them an email and see what they have to say.

For what it's worth ...the side runners are reputedly designed to act as a jacking point as well as a tie-down rail for roof-mounted cargo...

I guess they have the identical mount as the steps. So there shouldn't be much of a difference.

That seems rather bizarre.

Anything secured towards the front would mean the front doors couldn't be opened and anything behind the front doors could utilise the appropriately named tie down bars.

That’s what I was thinking too. I remember seeing a video online of a guy meticulously tying down his IKEA purchase onto his roof rack, checking and rechecking every knot and strap. Then he tried to get into drive it and realized his epic tie down job had blocked the door! His expression in that moment is one I think we can all relate to after having done something foolish, and so my heart went out to the poor guy!

Had a reply from AMP and no plans or thoughts of producing for the Grenadier. During my searches I noticed there are a few UK manufactures doing the same. Challenge would be, finding a design not as liable to off-road damage. Perhaps that will prove the Achilles heel in this idea.

I ordered Sliders, may change as this can easily be done as it's a dealer fitment.
I would have opted for sliders before seeing the side steps in the flesh. They don’t look as low as in some pics. No chance of getting feet safely on the edge of sliders.

Bonjour,
J'ai retenu cette option.
Je trouve que les marches pieds sont trop exposés.
Bonne soirée

Yeah, haven’t ordered them but thinking I might want to be able to get a hi-lift under them… for recovery rather than tyre change of course.
