Service Mode Cancelling

I was going through the process of bleeding my HVAC coolant. I followed all of the instructions precisely. When I depress the accelerator for 10 seconds, the car enters Service Mode. As soon as I start the engine it says Service Mode Cancelled. This is a cold start so temps are cold. I have tied multiple times. Any suggestions?

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have the same problem.

I'm not sure what procedure you're following. This is the one I have bookmarked.
Hood/Bonnet position is different for gas versus diesel just FYI.

Hi, this procedure for gasoline engines. After holding the gas pedal ‘service started’ appears, but as soon as I start the car with the brake pedal pressed, I got a notification of “service cancelled”.

Brake pedal pressed? That's not in the procedure.
I'll try this tomorrow.

If you are having problems with the heating, keep bleeding, take to your dealer, I'm guessing Wilmslow, ask if they do a pressurised bleed. Check your 2 expansion tanks don't have any leakage around the joints, apparently a known BMW issue. Keep driving and using the system. It should eventually provide hot air across the range. If you hear gurgling from the system when you turn it on it still has air in.
Don't give up 👍

Thanks for all your help, turns out that I should have paid more attention to the instructions. Apparently the procedure would not start with the bonnet open - honestly I’m surprised this has any bearing on it. I’ve managed to initiate it now, I’ll see how it goes this week and if there is an improvement. I do have a small amount of residue around the seam on the high pressure tank but this is above the level of the coolant. I’ll keep an eye on it and take it in to the dealer if the level drops.

Get yourself some BMW coolant and just keep adding when it falls, as it will regularly, until it's working fully
