Roofrack

Considering a 3/4 roof rack but what are folks thoughts on rain gutter versus load bar mounting styles? The rain gutters flex surprisingly easy if you push on them to rock the vehicle from side to side gently. I would think a loaded rack could potentially create enough momentary downward load encountering a bump on the open road to bend the rain gutters?

The 8 legs clamp midway across the gutter, not on the edges.
Also I have found the full width rack very useful for hanging off whilst lashing/ accessing gear of all sorts.
The low, narrow racks look neater but IMO are less functional.
But, your purpose may vary.

Thanks for the info… I’m looking for a balance between light to medium load capacity for long weekend off-road/touring camping trips and low enough profile not to create too much wind noise when running empty daily. Would also prefer a rack that allows for safari window operation and doesn’t damage body or paint should I have to remove the rack in the future for any reason. Not really looking for expedition levels of carrying capacity right now but certainly want a high quality rack rather than some generic one fits all solution.
 
The Ineos roofrack has slats that run front to back, unlike the frontrunner ( and others ... ) that run side to side.

From memory there was an enterprising early owner in Germany who modified this full length rack by cutting down the north/south slats and added an east/west slat that sat just behind the safari windows which allowed them to fully open.
