Roof power outlets

Before I buy expensive work lights to put on the roof, can someone confirm if there is power in the external roof mounted outlets with the vehicle switched off? No point for me mounting work/camping lights on the roof if they will only have power with the vehicle switched on.

Thanks. I am aware of the switches. Have been using the cargo bay 12v socket in that way. I assumed the roof outlets would be similar. I don't have anything to plug into the roof outlets yet to test, and saw someone else comment that his only work with the ignition on. I don't want to buy expensive lights if it won't work without the ignition on, hence my question. Which roof switch switches on the USB outlets in the vehicle? I haven't come across that yet...

Yes they work when the car is switched off. The PWR switch and the relevant rooftop circuit switch must be turned on also (there are two roof circuits). The Rok Dr Guide reveals all around page 9 and following (link in Item 1 under first heading below).

Rooftop outlets use Deutsch DTP plugs, see link in Item 4, under the first heading.

There are threads here with different lights owners have used on the rooftop outlets. The threads fall into three broad categories, front facing LED lightbars (or spot lights), rear facing work lights or side mounted work lights/camping lights. For example here, camping lights fitted to the roof grab bar.

It's all in the owner's manual. It's worth reading! Further, strongly suggest you purchase a cheap multimeter and check the outlets for yourself.... You can learn a lot that way;)

Would have read the owners manual if I actually received one at the time of purchase. 😡

I somehow missed that part in Dr Rok's guide. I knew the PWR switch had to be on for the 12v socket in the load bay, but didn't realise the switch also powers the roof outlets. I found it in Dr Rok's manual last night.

Would have read the owners manual if I actually received one at the time of purchase. 😡
My apologies for "jumping to conclusions"... Have you managed to acquire an Owner's Manual as yet? If not, it's available as a PDF download on the Ineos website. I have a copy on the SD card in my Samsung phone, along with Rok_dr's guide.

Wondering if anyone can confirm the following query please. Regarding the factory fitted wiring for roof rail power outlets, I’m in the process of purchasing a UK 2023 Fieldmaster, that doesn’t have the electrical enclosures fitted. Does this mean the Fieldmaster doesn’t come with these as standard spec, or can I retrofit them, including adding additional switches from the overhead cockpit panel and wiring? TIA

The Fieldmaster is more plush and less Action Man, so the extended wiring is not a given as it is a £1,170 build option.

Retrofitting them in full would be an absolute bear, you would have to take most of the interior apart, so if you really need it, find one already fitted with the High Load Auxiliary Switch Panel & Electrical Preparation.

You could buy the switches and get your local auto-electrician to put in what you actually need, but you would be wandering away from standard.

There’s a lot of vehicles available, I’d be awfully tempted to find one ready fitted with it - same if you want a towbar or difflocks. These things will also help residuals and make it easier to sell at a later date. 👍

Thanks Jeremy, this confirms my knowledge so far and appreciate what you describe as a pig of a job to retro fit. I think if I do go for any roof mounted power outlets, I’ll devise an alternative option.
