The factory subwoofer is attached to a steel bracker that effectively takes up the entire space under the right rear passenger seat. That prevents installing a second battery, a compressor or in my case a small subwoofer enclosure. After removing the JBL Nano and the bracket it was attached to, I had the entire space to use under the seat. I bought a new wire harness for the JBL Nano off of amazon to make reinstalling it easier and ran wires from the original harness to under the driver (left) seat. It fits like a glove and running the wires from the original harness location to under the driver seat is easy with the removable plastic floor pieces. This is the harness I used. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZVWJ7WK?tag=globalgrena0b-20 Please not the colors are different, but you just need to line up the same locations for the wires and it is plug and play with the factory subwoofer.

Very cool! I was looking to do something similar as the factory location seems like it’s totally wasted space. Thanks for posting this!

Well done sir. I installed a pair of these subs under the front seats and ended up making longer harnesses and this would have made things slightly easier. Nice job

I’m curious how you extended it so far. I think I would need at least 4 ft. to get the Jbl under a front seat. I looked at undoing the tape back to the main wiring harness. However, I think I’ll have to undo the entire rear seat assembly to access that far back. I wish I could find a male to female 10 pin extension cable. I’m adding the JBL to a Trialmaster with the aux battery.

Any ideas here?

I cut the wires and spliced new, longer ones in an attempt to reuse the original harness plug. I changed my mind and bought a new harness on Amazon so that the splice could be hidden under the flooring and not right under the drivers seat. Someone else recently posted a male / female molex plug kit that is also on Amazon. You could use to plug into the original harness extend the wires 4-6 feet and have a new plug for the nano on the other end. If I did it over, I would do that do it is plug and play vs splicing.

Took a little googling - Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 Dual Row 2*5. I found this $22 DIY kit to build your own Female extension on amazon: https://a.co/d/0R4F9YB
This way I can leave the factory wiring unmolested and add any sub I want (in theory).
Hey everyone,

I actually made an account just to reply to this topic. I had the same Idea as @morrisdl and ended up doing it yesterday evening.

I didn’t buy the exact kit shown, but instead used just one pack of Molex/Micro-Fit pins and connectors (sourced off of amazon for 8€). I had some 1.5 mm² wire lying around, so I got to work. To relocate the subwoofer under the front seat, I built a 1.7 m extension harness - quick and easy.

This keeps the stock harness completely intact and makes the whole setup fully reversible. For routing, I just removed a few floor panels - no special tools needed. The subwoofer fits nicely under the seat, but I’m considering designing a 3D-printed bracket to secure it even better.

With an auxiliary battery, this upgrade is absolutely worth it. In my case, the total cost came in under €100.

Pictures attached :)
