Dear INEOS,
A considerable number of Grenadiers are exhibiting a loud, high-pitched whining noise from the power steering unit. This issue is not isolated and is being widely reported across the owner community.

The noise is intrusive and severely detracts from the driving experience—especially when driving with the windows or safari window open. More importantly, it undermines the vehicle’s overall perception. The Grenadier makes a strong visual impression, but that is quickly undone the moment the power steering whine is heard. The sound does not reflect the quality, robustness, or engineering excellence the vehicle is meant to represent.

Owners have every right to expect better from a purpose-built vehicle in this class. This isn’t just a minor annoyance—it’s a significant flaw that demands a resolution.

What steps is INEOS taking to address and rectify this issue for vehicles currently in the field?

HALLELUJAH!!!!!! I've just picked up my IG from the service shop in AZ after the R/R of the PSP and its is now dead silent!!! No squeak, squeal, whistle, whine....nothing!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Hats off to Justin and his service team for winning the tug of war with the mfg.

Awesome news. Any idea if the new pump was a new model at all? Just wondering what part number etc to search for. Hopefully all new pumps have been modified and you didn’t just ‘get lucky’.

How loud was your’s? Did they measure it? What was the argument with ineos?

How many hour labor did it involve?

Sorry, I did not note the old PN. Its a little tough to see while installed. The new unit looks exactly like the old one for what that's worth.

I was told by the service manager that mine was about 95 dB. I have no idea how they measured that. I can say that it was prize-winning loud when compared to other IGs I have heard. This incudes around town or the two dealers I have visited.

I was told it was at about 95dB. I did not see any test equip or ask how that was determined.

As far as labor hrs, I don't know but will find out.
Damn I guess the jackpot to hit is an extremely loud pump or no noise pump.

Mine is definitely not 95db. lol 95 db is equivalent to the sound level of a motorcycle. How the fk could the PS supplier engineer such a noise making machine. Are any energy even going towards moving the fluid?

Yea well, that is kind of a question in my mind. If there is a defined acceptable range, it should be clearly outlined as to what test equip is used and how the measurement is taken. Maybe it is and it's just known to the mfg and service folks.

Something like...was mine 95dB when measured within 6 inches of the pump with the hood open and engine at idle as measured by a calibrated sound pressure meter or some other defined, consistent, repeatable process? No idea. As so many owners are having this issue, I can't believe that IA is not actively working on a remedy other than just deal with the really noisy ones and convince the others that theirs is "normal."

INEOS is an amazing company that has incredibly high standards for chemicals across the oils and gas markets. They must have super strict quality controls. Hopefully some of those practices are being applied to these kinds of problems at IA.

I was hoping Calder would be asked about this topic.. but no let off easy

"Get lucky" isn't a great solution is it... I don't know if this fix came through a simply remove/replace to pump itself. Or if there are system contributors such as tube diameter, bends, fitting torquing, or other variables. If it was was isolated to the pump, I'd hope there would be some forensic root cause analysis on the pump to learn and correct the condition. Maybe even require the pump supplier to perform some kind of acceptance bench test and certify the quality of the pump noise levels. Just sayin'. This has to be a royal pain in the @$$ for IA to deal with.

I do know that my pump was replaced and not repaired or modified. The old pump has some peculiar markings on the label and the new one does not. I did not look for a serial number or anything like that.
