Hello Team ,

Not entirely sure the implications of this but here it goes .

As mentioned before on the forum i try and do an oil change every 3k miles for the Gren .

Now due to factors and circumstances out of my control i pushed back my last oil change to 6k miles .

I tend to keep an eye on the engine oil temperature both during driving and when stationary after a long drive .

I have some anecdotal evidence to present .

Over the past few months the car has been driven mainly at highway speeds and for at least one hour each time , almost no short trips . During the cars life the oil temperature never crossed 102oC , on highway under load doing 79MPH (17oc outside temp) temp used to be 94 oC . I noticed this to be a bit higher than previous ( at least a couple of degrees) .

I changed the oil at 6k Miles last week no obvious oil dilution, it looked like 7 Liters came out , 7 litres went in .

I drove close to 800 miles this week . Mainly highway speeds. I have noticed that at highway speeds 79MPH , outside temp 27oC oil temp is now constant at 89oc . Once stationary it will climb to 99oC .

My question is what is the brain hive's experience ? Does the oil degrade causing the higher temperatures ? Is this significant ? Does this mean anything ? How hot have you gotten your oil ?

Again this might be nothing , I do not have enough data to support a hypothesis , but rather an observation that might lead to something .

Keen to hear your thoughts and observations .
