My wife noticed spots on the drive way and I started looking and it WAS the Grenny! Took a look and it seems to be coming from the oil sump plug. Good because it should be an easy fit. BUT... I took some pictures and sent them to my dealer Mossy Houston but of course Murpy's Law says you find drip after service hours. So I'm poling the forum. I'm o.k. double checking the bolt tightens to 25Nm thanks to Rok Dr as always. I wasn't getting a low oil warning but after I checked the level (first time doing that) it came back with a 'WARNING - LOW OIL LEVEL' and a add recommendation. Hence the but. This says 1.0l which I'm assuming is liter. I watched the oil change video recommendation (again all hail Rok Dr) and noticed the youtube guy also got and exact 1.0l (and he said liter) notice. How precise is this electronic measurement? Will it actually give an add amount that is not a round number is needed or is the generic add amount always 1.0l? And I wonder why I didn't get a low oil notice until I measured it. Any advice welcomed.

@4x4Brick #1561 I believe full ( for offroad) is 7.5 L. I've just had a 7L fill and get the add 500ml message.
As for this table, not sure where that is!

That’s leaking too much to be normal after a service. A good tech will wipe down the pan / nut if it’s got some drips on it.

Maybe they forgot to put on a new crush washer on the drain plug. Definitely check torque on the drain plug.

I need to calculate the the price per service because I prepaid for 2 oil changes and services per year for five years when I purchased the wagon. New car (i was a 2023 pre-order), new dealer and all and wanted to make sure the warranty stayed intact. Props to Mossy Houston, service tech called me at 5:40pm on Saturday after they closed at 3pm to go over the text and photos I sent of the drip. Answer - tighten it and yes add a full quart which is just slightly over a liter. Now to go get a low torque capabke wrench. Mine stops at 35Nm and all the autopart store loaners stop too high as well.

Drove across town but finally found the right engine oil. NAPA - not a bad price. Bad news with my new low torque drive set to 18.4 ft lbs the bolt never got tight, just spun. Whot wo! Drip cleaned off and new oil added. Message still says add 1.0l but im going to give it a bit to clear and measure. No low oil warn light.

Another bad thing i saw when I was under the car was this! Will look it up when I get back but it has been wearing against the front drive shift. Any ideas what cable this s?

That’s the transfer case low range control cable. I believe there is a service bulletin out to secure it as it is low hanging and can interfere with the drive line as you are seeing.

Agile off-road have an aftermarket solution that many of us have deployed.

I am surprised the dealer did not catch this on their inspection which should have been part of your service.

It’s a nasty job to replace that cable they will need to drop the entire transfer case and maybe transmission to get at it as it connects on top of the xfer case under the floor if the car.

I would have it transported via flat bed back to the dealer. Maybe the cross threaded it! Time for a new pan perhaps.

If it's just the thread: There are reasonable repair methods for that kind of damage.
However, if they managed to crack the oil pan...

It took a full four (4) weeks at the dealer to get fixed but both issues got resolved – and under warranty. The spinning oil drain plug in the aluminum pan required the pan to be replaced. The chewed up cable was replaced as well. I’m posting the dealer description of the cable replacement process because it was fairly extensive. When you have to remove the rear seats from the inside to disconnect a cable on the underside, it is an extensive process.

You've got me a little nervous about the service department at Mossy Ineos Houston. Starting to wonder if I can rely on their techs to actually do their jobs!?

I was a little miffed at the time which was all due to parts not being in. Mossy wasn't consistent about the pan being in-stock, it was in stock, then it wasn't, but the cable had to be ordered and they wanted to do both repairs together. Towards the latter half of the wait they did provide a loaner so I got to try out a Fieldmaster with running boards. Still hard to get it an out without compressing the bolster (mine are cracked at 20K) even with the running boards so wife and I agreed we'd stay with the rock sliders and one day due aftermarket leather seat covers. With only one dealer in town we could say we are 'stuck' with Mossy but all in all I've been very happy with their service. Did one of their techs likely use an impact (pure speculation on my part) on the oil plug and strip it? Perhaps. I'm sure my Grenny up in the air getting the pan and low range shift cable replaced was a teaching moment for the dealer and techs. I was told the cable replacement was a new one for them. I'm ordering the agile support bracket now as insurance just in case so I can stop being a warning. If I have any complaint with Mossy, and it's a small one, is that they don't seem to be as engaged with Grenadier outreach events like Sewell out of Dallas and San Antonio. Supposedly Mossy San Diego has a test track for new buyers or for owners for training. Houston could sure use that amenity.
