Americas Oil Change Reset

I've changed my oil at 700 and 1,600 -- did not know I needed to do an oil change reset, but guess that's because I haven't hit the 5k or whatever limit yet?

Ooohhh mannnn … if you get triggered by jump scare sfx, suffering & despair is heading your way my friend
ADAS was a pain, but updated s/w was in my May 2025 delivered Grenadier and thankfully I could turn it off. Triggered by scare sfx, yeah, but the Grenadier doesn't do scare sfx, it's more like Chinese water torture, like being annoyed by flies that I have to continually swat at but that I can't make go away (well, at least ADAS was until I figured out I could turn it off, mostly had no issues with other indicators as other owners have experienced.)

I am surprised that one cannot reset their oil change indication on their own. I'd really like the thinking behind that decision, it seems so antithetical to Grenadier philosophy. This had to be a conscious decision, as BMWs allow customer oil change resets, so maybe there is a good reason for it here. Still, for many/most, there isn't a convenient dealership nearby. I'd really like INEOS to proved 3rd parties to do this and warranty work in areas where an INEOS dealership is not in the area, then remove 3rd party support when an INEOS dealership arrives in the area.

Welcome to the other side.

Have you heard it? It’s not water torture. Jump scare is the correct categorization. Just run your fuel level down to 1/3 level, and you will hear the same bong each time upon startup.

Some forum member indicated their kid cried because of how loud it is..

Shit was implemented and QAed on Fridays for sure

Oh, there is an engineer at INEOS who works on the software systems on the Grenadier who used to be a BF Skinner'ian psychologist -- random intermittent rewards are much more powerful.
I don’t think Ineos has any automotive embedded software engineers.. between understanding the technicality and traversing the regulatory hurdles - they subcontract this expertise for sure.

The roads in the UK are too narrow for the line departure warning to function correctly and are often missing the white lines. It’s a nightmare it bongs all the time and you can’t switch it off yeah

When will an oil change reset be rolled out for everyone? Driving 5.5 hrs to a dealer for an oil change is not practical.
You can clear the oil change reset with the Ancel BM700 can clear the engine oil light. This is one of its primary functions, as it is a diagnostic tool specifically designed for BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce vehicles.
The feature is typically found under the "Service Functions" or "CBS (Condition Based Service) Reset" menu within the scanner's software. After performing an oil change, you can use the BM700 to:
  • Reset the Oil Life Reminder: This turns off the oil service light and resets the vehicle's internal computer so it can begin calculating the next oil change interval based on driving conditions and time.
  • Clear Fault Codes: The tool can also read and clear any related fault codes that may have been stored in the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU). So, if you need a scanner for your BMW to reset the oil light, the Ancel BM700 is designed to perform that function. If you buy the Ancel BM700 do not get the "PRO" model. This Pro model will scan your Vin, our Vin is Ineos not BMW. With the Ancel BM700 you can quickly get into your vehicle's systems by following this cheat sheet. I love using this device.
  • BM700 Menu Path for Grenadier
    1. Main Menu → BMW
    2. Manual Select (skip Auto VIN)
    3. Passenger Car
    4. 3 Series
    5. 2021–2023
    6. G20/G21 (this is the BMW 3 Series platform closest to the Grenadier’s ECU layout)
    7. Select All Systems scan

  • Tips for connecting successfully:

I are you saying we can reset the Grenadier oil service reminder with this tool ? If so you’ve answered the hopes of many Grenadier owners. I need to get one quick before the rush if it works 👍🏼

No doubt it can read and clear codes.
Serious doubt on the service reset. The IG is not a BMW like those other brands. Nice if by some chance it does work.
