Off road mode error

Yesterday, I wanted to go to off road mode. Pressed the 'off road mode' button, but i think i was still driving slowly, so the 'conditions' for off road mode where not met. The manual says the vehicle should be still and handbrake should be on. So I get an 'off road mode error' on the screen.

Then I thought, ok conditions were not met, so I looked up conditions, i.e. stop the vehicle and handbrake on, and still the off road mode wouldn't turn on, now it said 'off road mode not available'.

In the mean time, the 'off road error' lights in front of me kept blinking at me. So I restarted the car, 'off road error' lights still blinking... So for the rest of the trip the ''off road error' lights kept blinking at me, and wouldn't go away.

Does any body know how to get rid of the 'off road error'?

Also, this is again one of those infuriating things about the Grenadier:
  • Expected process, push the button, something happens, button indicates it's ON, push the button again, it turns off. Very simple.
  • Reality, push the button, conditions are not met, error on infotainment, and error lights in front, then conditions are met, and the error keeps going on and is impossible to turn off, and the expected action of the button never happened.
For a vehicle that's about simplification, the process of pressing a simple button is infuriating. How did they get this so wrong?

Handbrake isn't required, or at least I haven't used it. But always have stopped.
"Restarted" may be too fast for the controllers to sleep. Try 2-3 minutes.
But I agree, too complicated. And every time you switch off the ignition you need to do the same process again.

I agree on all fronts. I think what really makes no sense is the push button. The push button is not a tap. But a push and hold. When Ineos dealer went over it with me, they had me practice. They told me three times before starting to press and hold for a good one Mississippi. Then press again.

I had this a few months ago, turned out the button itself was faulty and had to be replaced. Since it was, all is well. Handbrake not required.

In my car it works also when driving slowly.
Push, or tap, once for the led to blink, then a second time to confirm and the led goes steady.
Normally I just push twice without watching.

Being that the buttons are contact and not open/close, I think the timeout isn’t a bad idea to ensure the activation is deliberate.

Hmm tried again today, the error was gone at startup.

I tried activating off road mode when standing still, just pressing the button, but got the error again. And it kept flashing at me for the whole trip.
