Hi

At a dealer was told that MY 2023 will no longer get software updates and only adas capable MY2024+ will continue to get updates from here on.

Anyone have a view on the reality of this ? It kinda makes buying a pre '24 vehicle a sunk cost, given the majority of challenges have been in that department.

I could be wrong, but in my experience most of the Manufacturing Year 2023 problems have been solved.
This doesn't mean that I am not interested in improvements of the software.

Last service there were some software updates on my 2023 model.
I can’t think of any issues or problems I have with my vehicle now.
It would be good if I could increase the font size of some things but that is all I can think of.
Australia said no to ADAS on Grenadiers so software will be different to other 2024+ models around the world.

Agreed. I wouldn’t mind a larger rear camera view but other than that I have no issues with the software at all.

My AU MY23.5 model got a firmware upgrade yesterday, mainly bug fixes. It does not have ADAS.

Also quite happy with the software in my MY23. It's not perfect but IME most modern cars have irritating and difficult to navigate features.
And the less techie features the better, for me. I'm a last century model after all 😀

I recall back in 2022/3??, while waiting for my Grenadier to arrive, I started my Mercedes to see a message saying my software had been updated overnight.
No idea what they did or how the hell they accessed my vehicle remotely.
It was a 2014 model but apparently all Mercedes and many other vehicles have had this ability for a fair while.

Wife's Volvo is the same. We have no idea what the improvements are. Probably more stuff to stop people hacking in over the airwaves...

It's possible. But car dealers have the integrity of estate agents, so it may be fake news.
