I bought into the concept and vision of the Grenadier from the outset and took delivery in first week of May '23. I really wanted this to work, but after thinking about my conversation last week as part of the early adopter customer satisfaction survey, it struck me that the issues I had had since the start, in the main, I was still dealing with them. Passenger footwell gets wet despite being "fixed" many times, HVAC has a mind of its own, battery discharges itself randomly (but dealer has confirmed there is no fault and I'm on my second battery), various random warning lights that I have to go to the dealer to get reset. You all know the story. Added to that, dealers are getting as rare as hen's teeth in the UK and those that are left are covering huge areas and it takes a long time to get any service. So, I asked myself the question why I was carrying on like this, plus my wife has had enough ...........
As soon as I bought my Grenadier I had a specialist coach builder make me a set of drawers for the rear load bay. They are millimetre perfect and make full use of all available space and I have the Ineos rear door table fitted They do not squeak or rattle at all. They bolt directly into the mounting points for the factory load rails with no other attachment points needed. They are made from black powder coated aluminium throughout with a phenolic plywood top. They are really strong, their total weight is 60kg and the fit/drawer gaps are as good as you can get. Each drawer is 500mm wide by 800mm long by 250mm deep and they lock into position when open and have six partitions that can be configured flexibly across the two drawers.. Also included is a slide/tilt fridge slide for Dometic 35L (or equivalent) and a 20ltr water tank.
The two drawers and their casings are completely independent and could be used as a singles if required. Obviously the wooden top would need to be cut to suit.
I bought these to keep, as it was my intention to keep the car long term, and they cost me over £4,000. It seems criminal to just leave them in the car when it goes to Motorway in the next week or so to be sold in the trade.
If anyone would like them, please drop me a PM.
I would like £1000 for them.
