Hi - does anybody have any good, unobtrusive locations to position a mod plate? I need one for the auxiliary fuel tank.

It needs to go on an unremoveable panel and there’s just not too much space available. Thanks

Hi @beefs
Mine was installed just below the door latch catch front passenger side as shown. Under Qld? State TMR Regs the plate can no longer be riveted because that means drilling a hole which would require further engineering certification for the hole! (I kid you not).

So the licensed inspection workshop (at Morayfield and recommended by Ben at the Brown Davis outlet at Deception Bay) attached it with Sikaflex. Due to the tight space, he carefully bent the lower edge of the plate to match the contour so it didn't catching clothing etc. Once fitted, it's not noticeable...besides, the door closes over it! Total cost for inspection and supply and fitment of plate was $157 (Inc GST). 20250726_085139.jpg

It's incredible that you can modify your own vehicles in QLD but must have a mod plate fitted. In W.A it can only be modified by a licensed mechanic/fitter/engineer with the plate fitted by them.

Great - thanks Denis, that is where we ended up putting it as well. There’s surprisingly little spare room anywhere else it can go.

Clearly my inspector was not aware of the riveting change though…had to watch him take a drill to the Grenny door and rivet it in place.

Most bolt in modifications can be done by the owner but must be inspected by an approved engineer before being signed off for TMR.

Come to California where this product is strictly verboten...
