The front section of the Silenus roof conversion looks like a decent spot to mount a set of Maxtrax. Has anyone attempted to mount them in that location? Ideally as flush as possible. So far, looking at all of the mounting options, it appears that most are for a roof rack rails or load bars.

Another option that we are exploring is to mount a low profile storage box in this same crosswise orientation and then have the Maxtrax mounted on top of the lid. Again though, not finding much designed for the Silenus roof.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I’m going through the same thought process at the moment having just had my roof conversion done. The back portion will be covered in solar similar to yours but I’m probably going with semi flexible stick on type. I’ll probably go with two low mounted rails at the front for my maxtraks similar to the rails you’ve used for your solar panels.

That is an option I was thinking too. It just seemed like an inefficient use of load bars. I will be mounting two full size Maxtrax on the roof and then two Maxtrax lite on a fold down side table off the left rear side…..once a company designs it that is. I have the 270 awning on the left side already. I know fold down tables, that hold Maxtrax, are widely used on Troopy builds. The shorter Maxtrax lites will fit perfectly between the rear drivers side door (LHD) and the opened rear narrow door. Somehow incorporating the L track and possibly another L track mounted above the side window might be an option for a foldable table mount. For a LHD setup, that side window is mostly useless. The plan is to build up storage on the interior wall.

If we end up going induction cooktop we will most likely be adding two additional Sunflare XPLOR Blox 50w panels right next to the four we have mounted already. That will give us 300w (plus we have a REDARC 160w blanket).

The Silenus roof is amazing….we just need more options for mounting and storage solutions. Trying to keep the weight low and light!

Other options - if you don't need the rear door ladder to pop up your tent, you could mount them there (see DVA Mechanics' website for an example). Maxtrax also sells a spare tire carrier.

Order up a pair of these bars - https://www.tnutz.com/product/ex-1050-black/ - and have them do the drill thru & counter bore style C.

Measure them so that the overall length is 1" longer than the center-to-center distance of the rails on the roof. Use some drop in T-nuts into the roof rails to secure the extrusions to the roof. Then use any mounting solution you'd like to the extrusions (they will use 1/4-20 or M6 t-nuts depending on what you want)

Food for thought...

I was thinking of mounting the Alu-Cab Roof Tray in that position at the front of the Silenus roof (maybe with the Alu-Table stowed underneath) and mount Maxtrax in the tray (with any number of expensive options). The load bars for the tray could also be a mounting point for an array of lights off the front.

I like the idea of mounting Maxtrax on the spare tire, too. Maybe with the GP Factor mount (if not using a Buzz Overland Storage Cubby); or attached to a bracket strapped to the tire. The ladder is where I plan to mount a propane bottle on a GP Factor bracket.

A gullwing window with storage and/or drop down table on the left rear quarter could also be a place to mount the Maxtrax.

I’m interested in what you and others with the Silenus Roof Conversion develop as solutions.

Goose Gear is soon to release their interior build for the Silenus. It should be stunning and much like the cabinetry found in Land Rover and Troopy builds.

Shouldn't the Silenus come with 4 side Molle panels?
At least they are still shown on the official drawing on the Alu-Cab website, and in my opinion they are suitable for attaching accessories:

Yes it does but I want to keep any weight towards the hinge end. I have four maxtrax they will go at the front on load bars. The Molle panels I will use for shovel and possibly axe. Although I prefer a machete.

I will second what Logsplitter said about keeping any additional weight as close to the hinge end as possible. That forward location is also accessible by standing on the front fender plates.
