After much speculation as to which is better or which is the best value for money, we have the following information & conclusions;

2 intrepid Grenadier owners travelled from far & wide to meet up at a pre-arranged destination between the two. Coffee was brewed and consumed, discussions were had and finally Grenadier seat covers were compared!
Stepping outside into the extreme wilds of the forest, risking life and limb to any wild animals and locals that may attack, they sat in each others Grenadier, both having chose the kaki colour help with the comparison.
M&M's version had been produced using a traditional cotton fabric with the thicker weave whereas the Tougher ones were produced using the polycotton fabric. The discussions continued for many minutes and as the light began to fade a conclusion was made.......'yeah, they are both really nice but can't truly compare as made with different fabric but would choose the Tougher as they are cheaper and look good too'

So there you have, a true comparison of the covers 'yeah, they are both really nice'

Thanks to @Cheshire cat & @CRH for partaking in this extreme adventure and travel to provide a conclusive result for all shoppers of seat covers for their Grenadier/Quartermaster

Great to meet up with fellow Grenadier lovers. Ironically, between us we seemed to have every extra from the likes of Bison and others, that was available. Very enjoyable hour or so.

It was over 2hrs, I couldn't believe the time when I drove off.
I really had a good time meeting you too.
Only things we don't have is anything attached to the roof, one of us will have to rectify that.

Thought about the overhead light bar but the cost is a hindrance. Also, how it may effect the vehicle with wind noise, etc.

Wind noise and economy is what bothers me about having a roof rack, economy, I know, I can't help, even with a truck as uneconomical as this and I won't but a rack on it just in case I lose 1mpg. I am just too sad for words 😱😱🤣

Not exactly sure how either of us would have the strength or agility to climb onto the roof in the first place!

That made me laugh, the wife says there is no point having a roof tent as I'm a cripple, I just like the idea of the travel

I plan on doing something which will make the rear totally level when rear seats are folded. Sleeping inside seems far more preferable.

Personally I look at the Melvill & Moon seat covers as more of a ‘luxury’ product that’s still authentic for real use. A bit thicker material, a bit nicer fabric weave, and the heritage of the Melvill & Moon brand.

I obviously have the Melvill & Moon covers in my Grenadier, but I’ve ridden in cars fitted with the Tougher covers as well and as you say they’re different but nice as well.

(Full disclosure my business Overland Kitted imports the M&M covers to the USA)

I have the M&M and have been very happy with them. I have seen the Tougher covers in person, and was very impressed with them also. The Tougher customer service certainly seems more proactive although M&M UK rep, Steph is very helpful.

I went with the Tougher brand, and am very happy with them. They inserted the grey panels in the middle parts, so they are similar to the colour of the cloth seats. Needed something, as the dogs love the car.

Between the front seats is the Chihuahua’s bed. Having the cover for the centre console lid helps it to not slide around. I have built a shelf behind to support the back of the bed, and attach it.

Thank you Matt! I just ordered M & M from your site. They look great, I appreciate the background on them and the quality from South Africa made for safari's I'm down here in Tucson! Can't wait to get them, John

I ordered the Melvill & Moon seat covers from Overland Kitted. They arrived quickly and fit great. I ordered the black seat covers and they match well with the black themed interior. The canvas feels thick enough to be very rugged but also very soft to the touch. Adds a layer of comfort to the leather Recaro seats and you know you are protecting the leather at the same time.

Hi guys,
I love how you meet up for coffee and compare products. It is just awesome!
Just a quick one on the fabric. Polycotton is harder wearing than cotton, that is why Tougher began using polycotton fabric first. But some people prefer the cotton because the weave looks and appears harder wearing than the polycotton but in fact it isn't. We do offer cotton as well so customers have the option of polycotton or cotton but we tend to promote the polycotton because it wears better.
I saw some people chatting about the fit, once fitted it will appear very snug and perhaps look a bit wrinkly. I promise once you have sat on them a few times the fabric "settles" and everything smooths out.
That was a mouthful but please shout if you have ANY questions at all!
Tatum
Ps. I can't wait to see what the next "comparison coffee" is about. :-)

We purchased a set of M&M covers directly from the company in SA long before we took delivery of our vehicle (MY24). We requested a slight alteration to the finished product and they accommodated us without charge. When the vehicle did arrive we found that the second row headrests had changed from the MY23 versions. We ordered replacement headrest covers but M&M wouldn't take our money and sent them to us gratis. I can't say enough nice things about the company and the staff. I almost sent flowers to the office.

Despite being somewhat sturdier I'm not fond of polycotton seat covers as they tend to feel colder in winter and I seem to slip around on them more than straight cotton covers. I've only had a few sets to compare so my experience is limited.

The polycotton isn't like your normal Amazon stuff, it's just as good as the cotton. It's still strong and rough to fit, scuffed my knuckles a couple of times, but then they are as soft as a baby's bottom as I sit at a computer all day and don't do any proper work.
There really was very little difference between the two. If we hadn't compared side by side we would have thought that it's pretty much the same.
I've had no issues during a UK winter with feeling they were cold but I also have heated seats
