Our Grenny made the news recently. Not the ideal way to do so, but a story worth sharing. A 70-plus car and truck pile-up on I-70 eastbound, about mile marker 216, included the green Grenny. We don't how many hits it actually took but it held up amazingly well. The airbags deployed from a rear impact, and we learned about foot well bags as well. The pics tell some of the story, but I was extremely impressed with how it did. The wife and son had to go out through the safari windows as they were wedged between a camper and a Kenworth. One of the pictures is from the roof. The frame is bent as well so it's probably not coming home. I can say it is tough.

Wow! Glad you and fam are alright. Makes me happy we're driving a tank and that its proving to be safe, not just feel safe. I spent 10 years out in CO, seems like we got a couple of those pileups every year.

Seems like a compelling argument for having safari windows as a possible escape route when faced with an accident which blocks or damages doors to the point they don’t open. Glad everyone was okay and your Grenadier did its job protecting everyone.

I often wonder what possible injuries can happen in an accident when our vehicles are fully decked out for overlanding with roof racks, molle panels, fuel containers, tents, awnings, internal metal shelving, accessories galore, camping supplies heavy refrigerators, etc... It makes one want to pay even closer attention to what and how you bolt accessories to your vehicle.

Same thought has crossed my mind with the amount of rubbish i keep in the boot area.

The safari roof escape idea sounds good for UK parking spaces

Frame is bent is a bit of an understatement. Glad all OK and I cant think of a better car to get through that horrific event.
