We all know the story, JLR stopped making the Defender. Jim R asked to continue production, they said “no”, he said “right” and here we are.

What would you like to see them do next?

I think TVR.

Bear with me.

Iconic, historic British brand. Niche. Focussed. Loved by owners. Unique concept. Simple, light, characterful. Not without flaws admittedly. Sound familiar?

Could Ineos fill factory capacity with a <1500kg two seat fibreglass v8 front engine rear-drive sportscar with a manual box and crap HVAC? Could they make and sell a global old-school sportscar for the price of a Cayman?

A replacement for the BMW Z4, or how about a collaboration with Morgan, struggle to get more British than that. Or better still a F type ( or E type) revival with a BMW V8

The Pontiac Aztec for sure should be on everyone's number one list....

Love Morgans, if they did a v8 manual of the new Supersport I’d be sorely tempted. But thing is, Morgan seem to be doing ok, they don’t need the help of Ineos.

TVR on the other hand…what a complete shitshow that has been over the last decade. Broken promises, lost deposits, a government backed factory etc etc.

Such a shame.

This was where my mind went as well. Maybe JR can recreate the 427 Side Oiler that powered the Fords to a 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans in 1966.

A simple 2 seat affordable sports car. Britain used to excel at those. MGB, spitfire etc.
Front engine rear drive, manual, light weight, cheap enough that the masses can afford it. Not an EV!!!
Toyota 86 have done that (2+2, rear seats for embryos)
Great little car, very basic, very track fun, told my son he should have kept his!
