Good morning everybody,

does anybody know how big is the hole spacing of the lashing rail in the car boot?

There is a international size of 1'' (= 25,4 cm) and a size for the EU-market which is exactly 25 cm.

Thank you for your answers.

Greetings
Roland

Do you mean the L track mounted on both sides of the boot floor?

Oddly, the pitch / hole spacing used is 1" or 25.4mm Not sure why a car designed and built in EU doesn't use the metric spacing.

Because it is aircraft derived.

Also in Europe:
Pipe threads are British Standard (imperial)
Plasterboard/drywall is 4ft wide (and 8ft long in the UK)
TVs are measured in inches
Car wheel diameters are in inches
Bicycle wheels are 28" (although called 700c which doesn't convert!)
Bulk fabric is 54" wide
Altitude is in feet
Aircraft thrust is in pounds
Marine speed is measured in knots (nautical mph)
Ammunition is often in inches.
Wiper blades are in inches.

(Although some are converted so you might see a 32" TV as 813mm)

Several EU countries colloquially use a translation of pound and pint (eg livre and pinte) although they generally mean half a kilo or litre respectively.
