All,

I tried to conduct a search, as to not repeat anything here but, what are some reliable sources for planning overlanding/off-road experiences? I'm looking to plan some immediate trips in the NE US and then some longer term planning for 2026 that may include Canada, US and Mexico. Any suggestions for proven sources, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Keith

I downloaded and purchased a plan with OnX Offroad. I haven’t used it yet but it does show several trails in New England with good descriptions and updated trail conditions.

I use OnX for actual route planning, which to me is the easiest part. The hardest part is figuring out the general area I want to go and what I want to see. For that I generally just browse forums and YouTube.

Gaia and OnX Off Road are the two biggest in the mapping (in addition to Garmin of course) world

But to find or plan actual routes/trips, either use an experienced guide/company (shameless self promotion in my signature) or there are a multitude of websites that are both free and charge a fee (Trails Offroad, Overland Trail Guides, etc) that have routes available for download.

Straightforward routes that come to mind for the NE include NEBDR, MABDR, PA Wilds BDR-X, and TNHX; all of those are free to get the GPX for except the last one
