What is the go to gmrs radio that is favored among the group? Have no experience with the radio and don’t know how much power is needed to be effective, features etc. Any info would be appreciated

It greatly depends on what your goals are. If you just want to communicate from 1 truck to another a 5w handheld and decent antenna is more than enough. A 15w Midland base unit is usually more than enough for most people. Antenna selection and placement can be more important than the base unit. Often higher wattage can cause more issues than advantages.

Rugged Radios makes a wonderful kit for the grenadier. We have a kit on both of our grenadiers, it is compatible with or without the raised air intake. I wired the radios to the INT2 overhead switch. The kit shows as unavailable online, you have to call to place an order.
