Front and rear diff locks or just centre diff lock

When I see a Grenadier without the optioned lockers, it makes me think about my sister buying a 2WD Wrangler in the late 2000’s (yes, they made them for a few years) because “it was a couple thousand less and she wasn’t going to take it off road”. 4-5 years later when she went to sell it, it was a really tough sell.

You might only use them a few times, but I feel like having them or not will impact resale value by more than the factory cost of $2000, so it’s like they pay for themselves (guy math 😜)

Hi ,recently purchased a pre registered fieldmaster ( del miles 10)without lockers. After over 25 years of various Hilux ownership were I seldom engaged low four wheel drive gear .So it was obvious I didn’t need them. Fully accepted the resale value would be hit by there omission, if only because it ruled out a portion of an already limited potential list of future buyers. Hence it is vital you buy at the right price. My vehicle configured at around £85000 but the final agreed purchase price started with a 5 . I cannot fault my grenadier and feel it is a “keeper “ I would advise you go ahead with your purchase but try to buy as keenly as you can.

That is a lifestyle statement. Chances are, you could easily get by without a Hilux, either.
Accepted, I suspect the grenadiers days are numbered if they can’t attract more buyers than the “off road “ crowd. There is nothing wrong with enjoying other attributes of the vehicle than its “off road “ ability. 350000 working miles in three different Hilux variants probably suggests I did need them.

The problem i see with no lockers is that the traction control is so far behind today’s standards. This vehicle really shines with lockers. Without lockers it would need better traction control. I think it works better the other way. With good traction control lockers are often unnecessary. .

This weekend on a trail run, I ran almost 90% of it CDL. The time I put rear on was in areas that had me going up steep hill with loose rocks. Guy behind me did the trip in a 1994 Defender with only center locker. In those same sections as me, he gunned it to get up the hill.

I rather have them and use them very little versus, need them and not have them. Now if I was driving off road maybe once a year, I would skip them.

I had a '95 Discovery and that was an amazing vehicle. At least as good if not better than 80 series Landcruisers I owned. The Ineos to me is quite similar to the Landy with respect to comfort, visibility. handling and ability.
Obviously the gearing and power are streets ahead.
Both , being petrol powered, should check into rehab!

What do ppl think of this. For non Facebook users,it states that Ineos TC was developed with 1500 to 2000 rpm in mind. You come to obstacle, you keep your recs at 2k and 2 seconds later the brake TC kicks in and pulls you out of the obstacle. That dealers were trained on this and should have been communicated. Video demonstrates it.

Thanks. Keen to see that . Can you send a link that doesn’t via Facebook as I do t do Facebook

Better to have them and not need them than vice versa I reckon.

I’ve never needed the front locker (I do engage them once a week or so to make sure they’re working) but I’ve pulled trailers through wet and boggy or snowy fields where I think I’d have struggled without the rear locker. I might be wrong though, I put the rear locker in and didn’t get stuck. 🤔

Plus, looking at second hand prices, the vehicles with lockers are always noticeably more expensive than those without.

And of course, the most important thing, if you don’t get them you have two fewer switches on the roof!

I saw the video and didn't quite understand it. Thanks for the explanation. Now I have to go try it. There are various designs or capabilities that are undocumented that are typical of good engineering and poor communication. I would like this to be true.

I don't but I'll see if it's been posted on YouTube
