Electronic Throttle Control

I placed 6mm clear spiral tubing around all the wires on the throttle controller today and I will install tomorrow (I hope). Those earlier pictures were from the test run in working out how to remove the accelerator assembly late one night.

I like two protective layers around wires, to stop wear through the insulation and then shorts. I had a short in the Patrol once when the split tubing fell off a wire, then the wire shorted on the chassis - causing a fuse to blow multiple times when traveling from the west coast to east coast of Australia. The whole dash went down 6 or 7 times. It did not take long for the 4WD to find the short after I told them of all the symptoms (plenty of time to work them out when coming back - over 5,000 kms), but I could not find it on the road.

RELAY PLIERS USEFUL
I had some trouble pulling out the OEM plug from the accelerator assembly, even after the bolt was removed. I must have fat fingers.

I studied the equivalent plug on the throttle controller and realised my relay pliers (use to pull out relays) might work. They worked like a charm releasing both sides of the OEM plug with ease. The plug came out first try.

Just leaving it on the Factory default for a few days. Even that has fixed the soft spot during initial acceleration (the main reason I fitted it, plus it will be useful for towing). Too early to properly tell, but fuel economy was really good for the first drive. Lousy photo from my iPhone - I need to tidy up the cable routing from the steering column:
