Dual Battery Question

Hello, everyone. Since the 2025’s are absent of the dual battery, I have a question:

Is the truck still setup for a dual battery? I know Genesis is coming out with a Redarc unit, but I can tell if that’s just to power/charge starter battery with solar and alternator.

Am I missing out on not having the factory dual battery system? There was some confusion from the dealer in explaining the current setup and I thought it was all there, but I had to pick my own battery of choice. They made it sound like people weren’t happy with the factory secondary battery, and that customers wanted to choose what went in there.

Dual battery is no longer an option from INEOS. Lynn Calder interview tells you why.

There are only third party options now. You are not missing out if you choose a good third party supplier, suited to your needs.

Thank you for the reply. I will have to look around and see who’s going to make the best dual battery option. I like really high quality.
 
Sorry, I must have misread your post. I thought you were asking about the roof shelf.

For a dual battery, you'll need a specific kit. The main challenge is finding space under the hood. Check what aftermarket suppliers like Red Winch or Bison Gear offer for the Grenadier, as it's likely the same for the Quartermaster. A professional installation is a good idea to keep the warranty intact.
 
It isn’t a proper “house” battery set up like nearly all of us have had in the past. As such, if I had my time again I would have not got it (although it was standard with the trialmaster) and spent my money more wisely.
That said, I’ve had a few instances where dormant draw has meant I’ve been down to 50% battery after a couple of weeks of no use which might have meant a single battery would have been flat.

These days, I reckon a dedicated car charger serving something like a Bluetti power station is a much more versatile set up than a traditional dual battery set up. I’m seriously looking at using that to power my fridge and other bits and pieces on long trips going forward.

Are you suggesting a dual battery system is fitted under the hood 🧐. That sounds like an AI answer
 
The Ineos Dual system is a redundant system not house battery. for reliability in the field, i kinda like that. I've done it both ways, and I've found complaints to be much ado about nothing. Even tho power stations suck up valuable space, if you have the dual battery, and you run one of the smaller power stations off of the primary, you've got yourself a rather resilient but simple system that's less likely to leave you hanging in the empty quarter than a complicated but poorly designed or monitored dual house battery. I guess it all depends on how "techie" and needy you are. I carry a cot and a tarp for reference.

I wanted it just for that; redundancy. I have an AEV GMC 2500 for my travel/ camp rig.

There are clearly some guys here that love automotive wiring, and I’m not one of them. I’ve used this on more than one rig. What I like about it, is I put a momentary contact toggle on the dash and I can combine the batteries for jump start or to mitigate voltage drop during winching. If you put a second battery in the open battery slot of a ‘25, I don’t know why it wouldn’t work… other than… if this would cause issues with a smart alternator. I don’t know why it would, but I must be dumber than a smart alternator as I prefer a gm one wire for a remote travel truck
