You could even perhaps source a B57 engine to the 50d spec at around 400bhp.

But what about the gearbox then, would that take the increase torque, I accept the B57 gearbox is an upgrade on the B58, but not sure what it is rated at.

I believe the diesel engine auto transmission is rated at 750Nm, the 750d engine is 760Nm according to a quick Google.

Certainly if it is under £20,000 and apart from the engine otherwise okay.

You can’t be serious, the ongoing electrical problems caused by corrosion in all the plugs , components and computers would be an absolute nightmare
Flooded cars are a nightmare and written off fora reason
I wouldn’t touch it if someone gave it to me other than a few spare parts

Not sure if it was actually flooded to that extent. Was it not water entering the air intake, due to water flow on that side of the vehicle? I Don’t think the vehicle was ever actually submerged. Jeremy will correct me if I’m wrong.

It did not flood past the bottom of the doors, the interior was dry before and after and the dash came back up with a charged battery connected. The engine sounds rough in the video the salvage company posted, so I'm grateful it is not my problem.

My guess is a rebuilt or 2nd hand engine will solve most of the issues, but water in the wires can become an issue later on. I can imagine that getting warranty service from Ineos Automotive might be a real problem.

Interesting comment on warranty work. If it was only a Cat N write off then the DVLA aren't usually notified, so it would be down to an Ineos dealer, at a later date warranty request, picking up the rebuild situation.

The wiring connectors and other electrical parts will have been designed to cope with water immersion up to the maximum wading depth of the vehicle.
It wasn't taken over the wading limit, but it unfortunately ingested water into the engine air intake.
Anyone who can rebuild a BMW engine should be able to restore that Grenadier

Hopefully it will appear on here and we will find out. Although my guess is a car dealer will do it.
