Drowning my Grenadier (a sorry, soggy saga)

lt would be a bargain for someone who could strip and rebuild the engine themselves.
The bottom end is probably okay. Or get an engine from a wreck.
Could you get the parts from a written off BMW ?

You could even perhaps source a B57 engine to the 50d spec at around 400bhp.

But what about the gearbox then, would that take the increase torque, I accept the B57 gearbox is an upgrade on the B58, but not sure what it is rated at.
I believe the diesel engine auto transmission is rated at 750Nm, the 750d engine is 760Nm according to a quick Google.
 
lt could be one to buy and store long term, until an engine came up.
Certainly if it is under £20,000 and apart from the engine otherwise okay.
