It is mentioned in the owner's manual that there is an optional auxiliary battery ( not speaking about the second battery)
I have read posts on these forum saying that this option has been discontinued
how could I know if mine has this auxiliary battery ? where should I look for one?
My car is October2023

To my knowledge there is no auxiliary battery ( used to power ancillaries during the stop/start procedure, aka land rover). It is the second battery option that has been discontinued.

Thank you for your response

Post jack Burton 28 June 2025says auxiliary battery discontinued.
So before 2025, there must have been an auxiliary battery?

I have a 2023 build, no second battery option. I am not aware I have an auxiliary battery. I think this is just an issue of the use of auxiliary battery and optional second battery to refer to the same thing. It is the second battery option under the rear seat that has been discontinued.

from what I understood at the time ,it was a tiny lead acid battery (a few Ah only) to help the main battery start the engine if this main battery was near empty and also to activate a few functions (which ones ,don't know )
I quite liked the concept as I have been stuck a few times because of low battery in winter

I believe that is incorrect. The small capacity 4ah lead acid battery was/is fitted to a number of vehicles with stop/start facility. Certainly was on my Discovery 4, but to my knowledge was never installed on the Grenadier. However the purpose of these small capacity battery is not to assist the starting function of the main starter battery. This "support the main battery" function was the purpose of the second battery option on the Grenadier and was installed along side the starter battery under the rear seat. This option has now been deleted.

I wish our grenadier had the small stop/start auxiliary battery. Easy way to disable the stop/start function.

Did this on a friends 2014 RR sport that had one. Just disconnect the terminal and voila! No more stop/ start nonsense!

2023 Trialmasters's should have the second battery. Fieldmaster's usually don't, as the sub woofer fits in the space allocated to the second battery. Main start battery is under the plastic cover rear under the rear seats. LHS. Second battery under the rear seats RHS. Just lift the rear seat and have a look
