Death wobble

When driving my Ineos Grenadier at around 100 km/h and hitting a bump, it starts to wobble violently
so much that it feels like the wheels might come off. It’s really dangerous,
and I want to fix it. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? The car is a diesel with 41,000 km.
Naohiko-san, on your Instagram there is a post with your Grenadier saying you had fitted 255/85R16 tyres on steel wheels which is unusual (if the translation is correct on the size). Did you have any issue with the brake clearance on the 16 inch steel wheels?

I have never herd of an ineos grenadier having a steering damper failure, apart from impact damage, it certainly has not been mentioned on this forum.
Impact damage is not the fault of Ineos, and people on this forum have been running their Grenadiers with the damper removed with no problem.
A good chance is someone forgot to tighten a component after a wheel alignment, or damage.
I guess the steering damper is more likely to cause autism than paracetamol is Tazzieman, you are a doctor afterall, was it injecting kerosene to cure covid, or something just as corrosive that our lernard American friend suggested in the past.

I would check swivel pins against resistance to turn. There needs to be significant torque needed to turn the wheel in air all rods disconnected.

I don't know the system but if there are roller bearings they need to have a preload to achieve correct resistance. Adjustment may be with shims or adjusting screw.

Bleach

Someone has to manage the asylum. Well try at least.

On a serious note - I've heard no credible instances of factory steering dampers failing and leading to death wobble.

On a non-serious note, about that Rabbi, Lama, and Pope joke...

And if someone wants to post a short video about what loose bolts to check for, I’m sure the forum would really benefit

I can't tell if people in this thread are taking the piss or being serious. Has there been a single documented case of a factory steering damper/stabiliser failing? (I'm talking actual failure of damping function; abuse / impact / bonging noises excluded).
Yes. They wear out and stop damping properly.
