Cyclists in the Grenadier Community

Yeah, I should point out I ride steel and titanium bikes, and my mtb is an Chris Chance bike. I thought wrapping the frame was obvious, but anyhow, most of my paint mishaps come from me working on the bike on the trail, or by the side of the road. Titanium is my fav just because it takes a lot of abuse, as does steel. I don't care about weight, if I did I'd be on a crash diet since I could probably lose 5-10lbs from my body cheaper than my bike.

Just came here to say +1 for your Rivendell Rambouillet. I roll on a Rivendell Saluki.
How different do the rivendells ride vs other similar geometry steel frames?

I can’t imagine there would be that much difference due to the steel material and butts?

Given that the last steel frame I rode was a Bridgestone RB-? from the mid-80s, I can't honestly offer an accurate comparison... other than report that the lugs (aesthetics) and comfort (function) on washboard give me serious pride of ownership.

Did someone say Chris Chance?

Got my first ride in this weekend on my new gravel bike. Too much snow for actual gravel but the bike rides nice.

you got the 1up rack to fit without an extension?
No, I have the Rocky Mounts extension on it. Thanks to this forum for alerting me that I would need that, so I had it already bought and brought it with my when I picked up my Grenadier.

I'm going to see if there's other ways to haul a bike, though. Living in KC, I generally combine my MTB trips to Colorado with wheeling trips, and I don't like how far back the bike rack sits.

My big problem is that I'm 6' 5", so I either ride XL or XXL bikes.

Look who I met today! When it comes to endurance, few people on the planet can match Christoph Strasser. He is a 6-time winner of the grueling Race Across America (RAAM) and the first human being to ever cycle over 1,000km within a single 24-hour window.
Just like the Grenadier, Christoph was born in Styria, right in the neighborhood of Magna Steyr.

can you guys tell me what I would need? Imy Kuat rack extends too far out for me to be comfortable with the extension. It’s shocking that INEOS does not have a system.
It’s discouraging for me because it’s not something that I can just go out and get it’s a little complex and the other option is putting the bike inside the vehicle, but that’s not something that I want to do

Why would Ineos have a “system” ?

If you don’t like the extension approach, the. There is no option for you as a hitch mount. It’s the same issue wranglers and broncos have - any vehicles with a tailgate mounted spare

The only downside is that the extension is pretty heavy. Search on Amazon:

“84122 Towever Receiver Hitch Extender with 4" Drop/Rise, 9" Extension”

I would suggest that a trailer hitch, being capable of handling large dynamic forces from a 3.5t trailer, should be easily capable of handling a relatively lightweight bicycle and rack, even one extended several feet backwards.

Did you ever have rattling issues with that extension? I bought it as well but gave up due to the rattling and the inability to find an anti rattle solution given its solid shank
