Chuckle in Your Day! (AKA the joke thread)

It's a rare day the Australian Government makes a decision or takes an action of global interest or consequence. On the other hand, the US has a history of inviting itself into the affairs of other regions with a much larger impact. If you're going to stick your head above the parapet you need to accept, but not necessarily like, all the attention that it brings.
Culturally, Australians play Tall Poppy Syndrome like it's a national sport. Those who step into public office accept that 'the public', that's us, is going to play whack-a-mole with the things you say and do. King Charles quoted Lincoln's Gettysburg Address yesterday when he said: “the world may little note what we say, but will never forget what we do.”

But all that aside, the politicians don't need us mortals to defend them. It's a sign of misplaced loyalty and patriotism that some folks feel like an attack on their politicians is an attack on the people. It is not, even though references are often made to the country rather than the politicians.

Rest assured Angus, as NQ94 said Australians are equally harsh on our politicians. You just don't see it get picked up by US media because that won't sell advertising in your market.

And do not use Great Almighty Google to search "why are Americans easily offended".
The answer isn't they need a better sense of self deprecating humour.
A chuckle and a pisstake get us through the tough times.

From what I understand, USA kids are raised to respect and honour the flag and this carries on through life. If we Kamala/Biden had been voted in the jokes would have followed just as quickly from the Australians who are brought up to take the piss out of everything and everyone
Uk has sarcasm which is difficult on the Internet when typed and tends to just cause offense

We just need to balance the jokes, add some about our own PM's, although our current is an easier target and possibly better known in the US. Previously we had Boris, always good for a laugh, now we have Starmer, it just makes you want to cry, desperately needs comedy

Does the rest of the world get this one?

We had Abbott and Costello who's on first or was that who had them first....I believe the US but who cares they were all good for a laugh😂😂

For those who weren't aware OZ had a Prime Minister Abbott and his treasurer was Costello.

I'm being careful now, I don't want a knock at the door from PC plod for hate speech. Another reason we have to focus on the American presidents 😱

You see, that's true - but not very amusing.
Meanwhile, a president praising a NASA boss because he has big ears is sad because it shows an absence of the humour gene. But a comedic gaff which people with dementia sometimes let slip.
Cringe comedy is best done by smart people, like Ricky Gervais.

Sarcasm is the wit of a fool, said my son's teacher. He didn't have the heart to tell him that the childhood rite of passage in our family is the entire Blackadder series!

I must be a complete fool according to your son's teacher. Teachers always know best, notice the sarcasm 🤣

Does comedy have to always be intelligent? Did you get 'Bottom' over there with Rick Mayal and Ade Edmonson. I didn't like it but the wife did, same as Vic & Bob's big night out, she liked it, I didn't but I did enjoy their Shooting Stars panel show
