Wired Car play

I have a 2025 QM. For some reason Ineos decided to stop having wired car play. I hate the wireless car play, delay is horrible and doesnt connect 50% of the time (dealer says it is a apple update issue and they are working on a fix)

My question is it possible to have a wired car play installed aftermarket ?

I'm told the USB does not transfer data?

I haven't had any issues with car play, my phone connects every time I get in the car heck it connects when I am not in the car. What do you mean "delay" I openly admit that I am a bit of a luddite but I don't fully understand the issue. I press "skip track" and it skips the track
what I do know is the bluetooth and car play are separate.
I have an iPhone 12, and a 2025 Quartermaster with the standard sound system
my bigger issue is that the knob and the buttons on the center console do different things that pressing the screen, I don't like to press the screen because fingerprints drive me insane

I haven't noticed any performance issues with mine. Also a 2025. iPhone 17 Pro with latest iOS updates. My only complaint is that the steps between volume settings in general is too large and the phone call volume doesn't go high enough.

Basically every MFG is going to wireless only. Simplifies and future proofs wiring for them. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that Ineos has ever had wired CarPlay. It wasn't on the 2024s.

The USB does transfer data - this is one way to update the system. You can do ISA updates and the dealer also does updates via USB. I’ve never tried a cable other than charging, and find wireless CarPlay very reliable.

Lag, latency Videos lag , very delayed. Same with Maps, the delay is horrible
oh, I didn't know you could watch videos when you drive and quite frankly I don't trust any GPS system beyond knowing that It will almost always pick a bad route

I just tried plugging my iPhone into both the USB A and C ports and they won't recognize my phone, so yeah that's an issue

absolutely the 2024 had wired car play.
even the brochure for the 2025 said it had wired car play. but it doesnt

i dont think the wire can transfer data

Check with your dealer tech. I know they have done updates via USB and it seems backwards to remove this dealer access point.

I haven’t tried it as mine is a 2025, but the lack of wired CarPlay is one of my friend’s biggest complaints about his 2024. US market, if that matters.

I have a '24 Trialmaster and it does not support wired Car Play. I haven't seen any mention of an aftermarket device that would do so. There was a thread a while back for people employing heroic measures to run their Star Link simultaneously with Car Play. I have a feeling the infotainment software developers for IA aren't old enough to drive.

With wireless carplay you need to remember that 1) the car and phone notice each other via Bluetooth 2) the phone connects to the car wifi hotspot to make carplay work.

If your phone also sees your home wifi at the same time, it can bounce between the two. If the phone bluetooth or wifi is off, it won't connect to carplay. If wifi is off but bluetooth is on, the phone will connect via bluetooth only (no carplay).
