You are not just an American, you are a Texan. In so many respects a "Super American" (if not a super-sized American, which grows anywhere in the US of A). By that right, you and every other red ( perhaps even blue or green ) blooded car buyer in these United States are protected by the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, which says that you have the right to choose to have your warranty repairs done by ANY qualified shop, not just a dealership.

The Act does not however require that Ineos recommend or advise you on what workshop to use, nor are they required to provide access to specialized tooling (ie computers) to assist those workshops to that end. "Right to Repair" acts that cover automobiles have only been passed in Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota and Colorado. If you feel your states right-to-repair laws should include automobiles (I do too!) you should definitely notify your local state representative, governor, etc.

I'm sure that the UK allows you to take your vehicle to any VAT registered mechanic to do servicing and repair on your vehicle during the warranty period. How this works if there is no access to information that's required to work on the vehicle is a big question mark!
My service centre is only 30 mins away, Chester is where they are located and this happens to be one of the expensive locations for hourly garage fees in the country. On the plus side I can assume that this will keep the garage in the Ineos side of their business for longer. They also share the service centre with their BMW arm which probably also helps.
I don't mind staying with the dealer in the early years of ownership but as the vehicle gets past 5-8 years old, paying dealer prices for servicing is a bit much.

I'd tell you the same thing if I owned or worked at the dealership. Why would you believe them is more my question. That said, having the dealership do everything during the warranty can partially help resale.
