Altimeter Recalibration?

Is it possible to recalibrate the altimeter?

We live on a 50-foot bluff above the Puget Sound, yet my altimeter says I am 32 feet below sea level. I doubt the Puget Sound is below sea level…

There is no actual recalibration, it should recalibrate after losing GPS signal. It also has a +/-100ft range of accuracy

Altimeters are pressure instruments and in an aircraft can be recalibrated for altitude hight etc as a pilot I'm ok if I can see the ground in a grenadier it's not a problem.

If youre at 14000 or 14100 ft, the difference isnt going to matter. What matters would be your change in altitude as you travel (if at all). This isnt a surveying tool. If you need absolute, download a usgs map into something like avenza, or whatever people are using nowadays.

As far as I know, the altimeter operates without taking air pressure into account and only shows the GPS altitude, which is inherently much less accurate than the lateral position. So it can't be calibrated..

I spent time driving on the beach and ignore the altimeter. Would be very useful feature if it actually worked or it could be recalibrated. I'm on the sand at low tide and altimeter is indicating -80 ft.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I live near the beach in North Carolina, and my alitmeter currently shows that I'm 81 feet below sea level; which would be a rather large problem for me.

I noticed the altimeter is off wildly at most times. No it can't be recalibrated like in an aircraft (unfortunately).

I checked online altitude sites, using my current location & I just don't know how they get the figures as some are half to other websites.

How can our phones and our watches and everything else modern today be accurate, and not this. I don't use mine, it is so dark in the day too difficult to read. So in the edit is decoration rather than the decorative Grenadier logo that is the option. Austrian engineering....

Just posted a thread about Gren's speed limits also which, in the uk at least, and on my new Gren, are wildly inaccurate and of cours set off the annoying bongs.
