I tried to buy a second hand one in Ecuador in 1987 when I lived there for 3,5 years, but they were or too expensive or in too bad shape; I finally bought a brand new Suzuki Samurai: very good purchase, but small!

My first 4x4 that I purchased myself was a Mitsubishi Shogun (As named in UK). It was a SWB in Diesel and came in Atlantic Blue. Loved it. Now looks tiny next to modern stock.They were called Monteros in the states. I was always partial to the boxy ones from the late 80s and then two generations later in early 2000s.
