That’s interesting! From your experience you think the issue of front-cold/hot-rear is coolant related? I had just assumed it was software related or an electrical gremlin.
Yes I do. I had a tiny coolant leak at a loose valve. That was fixed but problems continued. The requirement to thoroughly purge the coolant system after delivery from BMW was, I understand, discovered shortly after so Dentons did just that. I have to say that after 25 months of ownership and having a world-class dealer in Dentons of Skipton, our shale blue with white roof diesel Fieldmaster with winch, battery, all lockers etc is still a dream vehicle with absolutely no negatives for me. Totally reliable, built like a tank, really fun, quiet and incredibly comfortable to drive. It tows our Eriba 542 caravan (1.4t) which is just 2 m wide as if it was not there. We do an 800 mile haul to and from France twice a year so 50% of mileage is towing. Fuel consumption (23-25mpg imp. ) also good for a 4t payload. Solo 27-30 mpg. Off road, who knows (or cares). The rear view camera slots me easily into UK parking spaces and even shows me the tow ball for hitching up. Brilliant. I would change nothing in my Grenadier and, after some early niggles and suggestions (see “Vera the Grenadier”) I am totally used to the very minor idiosyncrasities and would ask only that the cruise control numbers in a poorly visible Green should for safety be twice as big and in orange. I use a 6” TomTom for gps speed, time etc and the central screen, which is outside my safe field of vision is just for reversing, iPlayer, range, average mpg, and iPhone TomTom for my wife to know where she is being driven! Sir Jim invented my dream car and, as we enter our 9th decades next year, we know that we never have to think of or buy another car. It will see us out and our grandchildren will still be able to drive a reliable diesel vehicle for the rest of the century!
Virtually all the issues which I read on the forum which are intensely irritating for we early investors, should have been sorted put by Dealers (as all mine were within 6 months thanks to Dentons). The fact that the business model of Direct sales was flawed, and the dealer support very poor, is a reflection on poor understanding of Customer Relations, an understandable error for a production orientated chemical manufacturer to make. All that has now been properly addressed and the business solutions put in place by a very impressive CEO. If they can find, appoint and support Dealers as good and as committed as my own, widen the range to include chassis cab and short wheel base UK “farmer” trucks then, as Del Boy said, the worlds your lobster, Jim. Ineos vehicles will make history and we are part of it.
I rest my case m’lud.
