Air Conditioning (blowing hot) fix - or just deal with it?

There might be a software update in the future. Mine is software related, as if I don't give the QM time to fully boot up before turning the ignition to start. It has only happened 2 times for me in 6 months, and both times I just wanted to move the car, and didn't wait for the airbag light to go off in the warning panel. If I only turn the key to accessory, and wait for the airbag light to go out before turning to ignition position, this gives the software time to boot up. I have never had this happen. It is now part of my startup procedure.

I recently had mine into the dealer for 12k mi service and a few warranty concerns. My main one was the ineffective and illogical HVAC system. They checked the refrigerant pressure and it was within spec so they said to monitor and report back if it kept acting up. Before I left the parking lot I ran the ac and it started making a noise it hadn’t before. I had the sales guy listen to it (service dept was closed) and he said it sounded like many other European cars and he “didn’t even notice it”.

Anyone else have a very annoying whistling noise that is only present when the AC is turned on?
Yeah mine did that after being in a repair shop and it turned out refrigerant was low - dealer degassed it and the whine has gone. Obviously not same issue as you then. Keep an eye on the level, could it be a leak perhaps?

Mine started making the noise the first time I turned on the AC after picking it up from the dealer. Now, it kind of ramps up the intensity the longer I leave the AC on. If I use the auto feature it’s full volume hiss right away.

OK something new happened last weekend.
On a trip home from the coast - call it 90km sitting on around 100-110km/hr - the a/c was working fine up front but all of a sudden started blowing extremely hot air out of the back vents behind the centre console. If I put my hand over and touched the vents it was almost burn hot. The front was blowing reasonable air (outside temp about the same as inside at around 22deg C).
It didn’t matter what setting or temp I changed to, nor automatic or manual. Turned it off for a while and the problem still remained when I turned it back on.
I have driven it short distances since and it seems to be fine now.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?

I did have a similar experience. Although, the next day it worked fine.
I went on an hour drive stopped for about 45min then got back on the car I felt a very hot air was coming from the back . I gave it a couple of minutes, I thought it would maybe get back to normal, but nope it stayed hot all the way for also an hour.

The hottest air was coming through the back vents, the front driver side (LHD) was also warmer than the right side. I noticed also the foot vents were extremely hot. So, I pulled the panel to check inside while I was driving, everything I touched almost burnt my hands. I turned it off. Luckily the next day it worked fine.

Yes, I know the phenomenon. It happens from time to time when I park the vehicle in the cold garage and then drive outside into the warm environment. You can play around with the controls as much as you like. The AC blows cool air at the front and the plastic almost melts at the rear. However, if the vehicle is parked outside in the sun all day and the interior is extremely hot, AC air comes out of all the nozzles, including the rear, and is pleasantly full. My assumption is that the sensors position the servomotors for the air flaps depending on the interior temperature and that this position can only be changed to a limited extent by the temperature controller. My experience is that if you park the vehicle in the heat for a few minutes, the air in the rear also becomes cool. My dealer said at the time that it was due to the servomotors. We replaced them all. It didn't solve the problem. I still think that Ineos doesn't have the software in combination with the sensors under control.

I have been living with the “qwirky” HVAC since July, but it’s really sterting to. Uh me. It’s annoying, uncomfortable and frankly embarrassing having friends in the car and having to explain why all of a sudden there is hot air blowing on their feet when the temp is set to one click above full cold.

Ineos needs to develop a fix for this. I guarantee they’re losing sales because of this.
absolutely Ineos need a fix for this, I love the design and features of the car but refuse to buy one with all the issues, heating and cooling being the main one.
It’s a major issue for someone like myself who travels in the Victorian high country with snow and blizzard conditions to desert remote touring when it’s up to 40 degrees, AC and heating is not a negotiable and must work, not to much to ask in the modern world in a 100k car
