I was involved in a collision on June 7, 2025 and our Grenadier was towed to a body shop for repairs. Parts were ordered July 2nd. After all these months, we are still waiting on a driver’s front door assembly and were told it would be ANOTHER three weeks before being shipped. This is after being told it would be shipped no later than November 3rd. Making a half a year’s car payments on a vehicle you can’t get parts for is getting old.

Has anyone had a similar experience with extended wait times on getting parts? Is this normal?

I contacted Ineos customer service and they have initiated a case to address the issue on the parts delivery, but have not explained the delay in getting the parts.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Gotta ask, did the body shop contact Ineos directly or the dealer? I had friend who need a whole new rear axel, the body shop ordered it from dealer and it was at doorstep of body shop in less than 3 weeks.

Certainly not fun to end up with damage like that and the hassle of waiting for it to be repaired I feel your pain. However, I have to ask if there is at least a cool story of how it happened? Was it like in the movies where an unsuspecting person opens their door just as a police chase from a bank robbery comes speeding by taking the door off? Hopefully, an interesting story comes out of it you can use to regale your friends at the local pub once everything is sorted?

The owner of the body shop ordered directly through our dealer as he does the majority of repairs for them. He has checked in regularly with the dealer and (jokingly) has asked to borrow a door from an unsold 24 they have on the lot. I’ve also spoken to the service manager and he has been responsive as well. His hands are tied because all he can do is keep checking on the status of the order.

No fun tale to tell. Happened in a parking lot when a guy with no license and insurance ran a STOP sign. Haven’t seen a penny from him and probably won’t.

Tough situation, I’ve been through something similar a few years ago. As a matter of fact, it was muscle bound short guy in a giant dually pickup texting (most likely his CrossFit coach ) at a intersection and failed to stop destroying the car behind ours and pushed it into the back of my wife’s then brand new Range Rover. The damage visually was seemingly minor but the repair bill was astronomical and we had to go the rounds with his insurance company. It felt like and very much took an eternity to resolve.

I’ve been waiting two years for a decal. Supposedly it’s on back order. 🤣

A guy in Australia I know waited over 12 months for parts for his Chinese wagon after someone rear ended him. And that’s a company punxhing out tend probably hundreds of thousands of units a year.

The supply chain across the world post covid has gone to the dogs.

How does insurance work in the States? If you are not at fault does your insurance company take over and handle everything like here? Why would you have to get involved with the other drivers insurance company?

Yes. Our insurance will pay for the repairs under our uninsured motorist coverage. Since this vehicle is my wife’s everyday driver, we’ve had to borrow a car from family members because our insurance only allowed $800 for a rental car per incident. (That’s about two weeks worth!) Typically, his insurance company would have to pay for the rental car since he was at fault. As with most insurance, we will have to pay several hundred dollars as a deductible when the repairs are done. The only way to recoup monetary loss would be to sue him in civil court.

Generally the person who caused the accident insurance has to cover the repair costs. The issue is if it’s a cheap insurance or the person is underinsured their company looks for inexpensive ways to repair your vehicle so you end up having to fight with them to make sure OEM parts are used in the repair as they only want to approve the lowest bid.

Plus, you have the added hit of your vehicles VIN being involved in an insurance claim so your vehicle shows up as accident damaged on any VIN report which can turn off potential buyers if you are trying to resell your vehicle. So at the end of the day if you don’t fight for everything you can get from the insurance company you have a damaged vehicle repaired with aftermarket parts which is now flagged as accident damaged and devalued in the market as a result.

TLDR - It's a sht sandwich for all involved.

I'm so sorry that the OP has to go through this. Major bummer, though it's something I did/do expect given IA's infancy status in autoland.

Earlier this year, my Model S Plaid with Track Pack factory brakes (USD $19.5K+ option) was totaled by a 100% at fault driver with trash insurance (Kemper). His max coverage sat at $5K which IIRC is the minimum liability coverage required by state gov. My provider had to cut me a six figure check since there was no treasure chest to go after.

Complete time/money waste. This too shall pass!
