Incredibly, in 1955 a group of LR's drove from London to Singapore and back - 30,000km

Amazingly, the journey has been recreated from Singapore to London in one of the original LR's from that 1955 trip and, of course, they made a doco about it.

Here is the promo clip.

Will a Grenadier do the same??

They were very lucky to get the permission to travel parts of the route eg China.
Had to skirt around the original route. Who wants to drive Afghanistan?
The beauty of an old car (look at what is used in the Peking>Paris event) is the simplicity and how it can be fixed by local blacksmiths etc.
But no doubt the Grenadier will be called into service to undertake some epic journeys all over the world.
Even if there is no local Bosch service agent...

China isn’t difficult, it’s just expensive - requiring a chaperone/guide. But yes, epic journeys is the intent and there are surely others planning the same.

The guide they used got pretty toey and they were glad to be rid of China.
Obviously so much depends upon political tensions and the like , at the time.

Yeah, that’s correct - guides are a roll of the dice at the best of times. Local relationships make a huge difference to the risk equation.
Even with China there are ways to skin the cat that can be teed up when you’re in somewhere like Almaty that won’t be found on the interwebs.
Same for the other destinations mentioned but one should obviously be guided by official travel advisories, and not just wander into conflict zones etc.
I just mention all of that because it really is much easier than one might think and I‘d love to see more people out there adventuring internationally in their Grenadiers.
