I've seen some adverts for 16" sprinter wheels with the grenadier as a fit. Um, do 16's fit the Gren?

I once saw a few pictures somewhere of a Grenadier on 16’ Dotz Dakar with 255/85R16 tyres. But I can't remember where that was. It should fit, albeit tightly.

I looked at mine once, I think steels in 16 would just about fit, alloys can be a bit thicker… It would be very close to the callipers. And you wouldn’t be able to put wheel weights on the inside.

I did not try but was told by the then president of the Americas for IA. He said that they really tried (given the popularity and availability of 16” tires) but they couldn’t make a satisfactory brake setup in their opinion.

Clearly a photo from the link with 16’s so they do fit over the brakes, I run 18’s on my Discovery 4 with the monster brakes that LR and a few others state only 19 or 20’s will fit.
It’s just a matter of finding rims with the correct offset and the right shape dish to miss the callipers, I only have 5mm clearance between the calliper and rim on the front
As far as spaces in Australia they are illegal but I wouldn’t run them even if they weren’t due to excessive wear and load it creates on the hub and bearings

Well I guess he was wrong, because someone has done it. 🤷
