During the black Friday sales, I snagged a Carbon Winch. Durning my due dillegence, I found the Carbon as a hidden gem. They are a Australian company that is trying to break into the US market. What stood out to me
  • It was a 15k winch in a 12k body. Similar dimensions as a come up.
  • It came in at 57pounds. One of lightest options out there
  • Ip68 with ability to add a motor breather, they say not needed but if you want, easy to do.
  • Comes with everything, no extra charge for accessories.
  • 5yr warranty

Here is more info and pictures. Couldn't find bad reviews despite trying really hard.

  • Key Features: 15,000 lb rated line pull, 7.0 HP series-wound motor, 218:1 gear ratio, 24m x 11mm synthetic rope, IP68 water and dust ingress protection, wireless remote included, lifetime mechanical warranty, 5-year electrical and water ingress warranty. It also features a rotating ring gear and automatic brake.

How does it mount or fit into the Grenadier Frame and Grill?
This will be bolted on my Expedition one bumper when it arrives. It will fit in the aftermarket middle winch cradles. I went with a whole new bumper set up because I was getting a bull bar, dented my driver side bumper. You start adding it up for cradle, new bumper piece and bull bar and the cost was same for a new bumper.

Here is a link from one of Matt's Recovery guys discussing Carbon Winches. He did a comparison between Harbor Freight, Warn and Carbon. 30 min video, the first 15 is the comparison. The second is around the installation of multiple winches on his wrecker.
