Why I'm buying a Grenadier......, to scratch a 30-year-old itch!,.......or a mid-life crisis!

I've only ever had 1 vehicle that would get me up early & keep me up late to clean it, and detail it....I would take it driving all the time just for the hell of it, and just love it, a bit irrational maybe.
It was a Defender 110CSW 1993 light Metalic Burgandy 12 seats; like the one below but with steel white wheels, and no side runner/steps
I've had VW Transporter Multi-Vans / Caravelles that I've really enjoyed modding etc..but just not bonded the same as with the LR
I thought long and hard about a metallic Queens red Grenadier, but I made my mind up a while ago it's a green vehicle for me now; and whilst the Grenadier's Sela green is a solid green, it just looks right imo.., similar to my favorite ever vehicle colour Porsche Irish Green, oh and I think all the pictures recently with HRH the Queen and Duke with green LR 110's may have helped.
I would have loved a front-center jump seat, but other than that, I think the Grenadier at this moment looks pretty perfect to me.
But I really really hope that the Grenadier will grab me like I was grabbed 30 years ago by a LR Defender.... and so far I,m feeling confident.

I hear you, even though my itch isn't quite that old. I just decided to start my midlife crisis a bit early to be done with it once my children hit puberty.

There’s something about defenders that does that to some people… some people hate them. I had 3 and they all had that effect to some degree. When my last one died I found myself driving a hastily purchased ranger to tide me over until the grenadier arrives. In many ways the ranger is a better truck than the defender but I hate it. Somehow its easy to forgive the defender for its many idiosyncrasies whereas so much about the ranger just annoys me.
I’m hoping that the grenadier will give me the same feeling as the defender.

White roof and green looks good, I've gone green + black roof.

I'm certain the Grenny will have the same draw as the Defenders of old on the new buyers.
