What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Recently got the dash / transmission cover from Escape Gear. Really like how they look / function. Plenty of organization pockets from the transmission cover. I'm letting them settle a bit more before attaching the 3M velcro, we'll see how well that holds - I don't really think I'll need to attach the transmission cover though, it sits very much like a saddle.

Shipping from SA didn't take much time at all either! Highly recommend checking them out .

If J Peterman is looking for someone to write copy. All details true and from this morning.

“Trout season closes in four days. Today is your last chance on the water. You get to your spot before dawn - everyone will have the same idea on this last weekend of the season. You assemble your rod and reel, and set it next to Baron Bigglesworth, your trusty Grenadier. Light drizzle, 51 degrees - it’s going to be a perfect day. Wading boots on, sling bag on, you grab your rod. By now it is just light enough to see, but you hear a slurp. Your rod and reel are lying in a pile of human feces. One day old - you know because of the slurp. Fortunately, you have the Blue Ridge Triple Run IFAK bag in back. Plenty of room for surgical gloves and antiseptic wipes. 30 minutes of disinfecting and dry-heaving later, and you’re on the water. You catch one brookie, who jumps the hook just as you reach for your net. You can hear the distinct laugh of contempt as he breaks off. It’s going to be a long, dark winter. Blue Ridge Triple Run IFAK bag; $159.99. Might not stop a bullet, but can patch you up if you stop it.”

Just a little routine check and some minor work,
I added the rubber edging to the windscreen, then went around the roof rack tapping every section with a rubber mallet. I’ve had an occasional vibration I know is from the rack and after the mallet test I wound up torquing almost every nut securing the load surface. Not a lot of torque, but enough that the following rubber mallet check returned zero vibration.

Just back from four days at the end of season in Quebec's Magdalen Islands. I had hoped to do some serious offroading, but the dozens of miles of spectacular and all but totally deserted beaches are open to ATVs but not, alas, offroad vehicles. So we settled for several long and healthy walks along the beaches. The first picture below was taken at the parking lot for the Cap-aux-Meules (Étang-du-Nord) Lighthouse. The second was taken near a beach on the east coast of Île du Havre aux Maisons. The ubiquitous red sand stone cliffs will be familiar to anyone who has traveled on Prince Edward Island or on the south coast of the Gaspe peninsula. The third picture is a typical view of the sandstone cliffs. The fourth (and last) image -- taken on that beach on the east coast of Île du Havre aux Maisons -- is (for me) a haunting echo of New Hampshire's (now lost) Old Man of the Mountain.

Been on the look out for a simple and elegant iPhone holder. I don't need or want the fancy RAM mounts. Ran into this perfect solution on YouTube of all places. Algorithm game strong.

Insanely ez to install. Uses the factory center console screw holes. Will uninstall without a trace because the backing is rubber. Really thoughtful packaging and design.

Never thought I'd appreciate a phone holder so much. Love it!

I posted this on my build. Add metal cloak diff covers last week. Kinda wish I waited a couple weeks to order because they are running a sale right now.

Another day a bit more tinkering...

I had the distinct pleasure of riding with team RRE in Moab. Andreas (CEO of RRE) and his son Tom who also works in the family business where trail participants and trail leaders for all my trails at Octoberfest in Moab.

Both are serious outdoors men who are legitimately great off-road enthusiasts who can maneuver a Grenadier across highly technical lines.

I bought a couple of things from them, including this sun cover for the central display that I installed today. Made out of metal and attached using double sided tape. Mount on top for GoPro and other attachments.

Solid buy from a solid team who i think are truly great people and a really nice business.

3D printed a UHF microphone holder that fits in the Grenadier's centre console. It uses two of the existing screw fittings to hold it in place. The holder uses the very strong magnet scavenged out of a GME Magnetic Microphone Mount. There are several similar setups circulating already, and I tried different designs before settling on a smaller round design instead of the production version rectangular mount. The round mount allows me to grasp the mic easily to lift it off the mount for use. The mount is angled slightly (10 degrees) so that I can glance down and read the screen.
I printed up one of these myself - except I went with a press fit for the magnet out of the GME mount.
Printed from Bambu PLA-CF
Now all I need to do is the actual install of the UHF... it is on my list.

"Noice" ! ;)...minimalist and matches the surrounds very well! Not having a 3D printer ATM, I might just mount the microphone bracket there with doublesided tape. I've installed the receiver (GME 330Cxrs )inside the cubby. It sits vertically on the back wall. Handpiece "sleeps" there out of sight when the car is left unattended. I fed the antenna cable from the roof behind the curtain airbag, down the B pillar and into the cubby under the console trim via a small hole drilled through the cubby wall for the purpose...

Source? Looks great and useful!
