Talking nonsense and general waffle

I heard a mind blower yesterday — they are now finding microplastics in plastics! I know right?!? 🧐

I haven’t been on the forum for a good while, I’m glad to see this thread is still going bc it’s one of my favorites.
The best one about micro plastics is that they think they are predominantly from clothes but we all stopped using carrier bags. The alternatives they are using in food packaging, like McDonalds, use far more harmful forever chemicals that have rapidly increased in the water. It's used to prevent the grease from migrating through the paper. And the paper is coming from non-sustainable sources or forests that are harming wildlife due to being of single species and type of trees. The paper bag alternatives also create around 4 times the amount of CO2!
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, it's just the industry I am in, we have a lot more available inofrmation than just headlines

I was wondering where you had gone, I hope everything is ok in your world? Glad to see you back👏

That’s so interesting — can you expand a little about what you do? It’s nearly impossible these days to get to the truth of things — you have to dig so deep and go down time sucking rabbit holes, and even then you’re not sure. So what you’re saying is an example of what we hear and what we think we know vs what the truth is.

Ughhhh, hasn’t been great to be honest 🫤, which is why I’ve been nowhere. End of July took what was to be an awesome trip to MT for 6 weeks, brought my precious little senior doggie along. One week after arrival she started going downhill and it evolved into a horrible painful death for her - it just broke me apart. I don’t know how many times I said this past year “all I want for her is that she doesn’t suffer, I cannot see her suffer” — and then all she did was suffer before I could get to a vet to help her go.

Out of 4 dogs, she was the last. This was the second time one of our babies died when traveling with us, the previous one even worse. I share the verbose details just to explain why it tanked me so much. We don’t have kids, we chose the furry kind. They were my little loves of my life. I’m not resilient *at all* with their deaths. Understatement.

So anywayyyyys, that led to a health crash when I got home after 6 weeks. Bad respiratory cough something, then neck needed 2 more ablations, then kidney stone (holy crap the pain is real!), then covid, then just total exhaustion and barely enough energy to function. Just now starting to function a bit. Went on 3hr hike this weekend, phew! So I’ll get there.

Sorry for long reply but you did ask 😉!

Sounds like you have had an awful time, I'm so sorry. I always worry about my customers when I can't get hold of them that they may be having a bad time, which is often the case. Again, really sorry.
We are the same as yourselves but with cats and i know my wife will be devastated when something happens to our ginger one, the pair of them are just demented, they are so close.
Sounds like you have had a real awful time with everything, at least you are up and about now.

Imy higher education was in polymer science and I been in the industry for 30+ years. We even use INEOS polymer occasionally, apparently they are just as bad to deal with 🤣 There are so many issues with not using plastic that they don't tell you or using the wrong types Like biodegradable (horrendous stuff and complete green washing), also have some dealings with the paper industry and what they have told me is happening in the name of being environmental friendly is horrendous.
The forever chemical thing is perceived to be a very serious issue.

So what do you do?

“the pair of them are just demented, they are so close.”

Omg hi me. I was so close to all of them, but the relationship I had with my Marcel was nuts, almost like we were the same being! He would lay on me and just sit there and stare into my eyes, and me into his. It was an inexplicable connection that I can’t really explain. He passed in 2018 and seriously a part of me went with him. I think of him every single day and I still cry sometimes!

I mean what is the solution for what’s going on in your field?! Is there one? It sounds like no matter what you do, there’s a serious repercussion.

My bach degree was in nursing. I only did actual nursing for about a year. Then I worked for a biotech company called Medtronic — where I worked in the field with implantable pacemakers and defibs; learned a ton but whoa the stress — racing around a 3 hour territory to be at surgeries and patient follow up clinics. Ugh burned me. Then went up to headquarters and climbed some rungs. Then realized I really wanted out of the big meeting-infested tedious corporate world.

So went back to my right brain and started painting again, which is me now. That, and then also just making random things out of other random things — usually with an industrial organic vibe I suppose. And lots of DIY — I try to fix everything in the house, which sometimes results in taking 10x longer than if I just paid someone to do it in the first place. But like I cannot pay someone to change out a garbage disposal or replace my kitchen faucet or do basic electrical or do any irrigation line repair. I mean ya know…?!?! Can’t.

Your description of the connection you had with Marcel is just like wife has with our ginger cat. We previously had 2 others and one of them would sleep on one of my pillows above me at night whilst touching me with a paw. I work from home and we were always together and he followed me around the house, that hit me when we lost him and still upsets me!

There is no fix, we just need to responsible and use the right thing and dispose of correctly. The real issue is people only read headlines, some may read the full news article but nobody then decides to look into issues themselves, research and workout what is the best for each requirement and then campaign for that. It's ban this, ban that, use this and not that. Sadly everything is very complicated and no MP or news writer will bother to look into or even change their own biases as they all have them.
When I tell people how to save the environment the answer is to stop trying to save everyone, start living in caves or mud huts and grow your own food. Sadly this won't work for everyone 🤣 Unless we are prepared to give everything up there is nothing we can do other than hope scientists can figure it out.
Currently in UK our government is pushing for us to have no pure ICE vehicles by 2030 and completely electric by 2035. Use wind turbines instead of gas power stations and solar instead of farming. As if UK is going to make any difference to the rest of the world. We are all being led by power hungry crackpot.

Glad you are back here 🙌
