Spiritual Successor to the Defender

Interesting video; there is not a huge amount I would argue with, but the clip of the multiple roll-over across the centre margin of a busy road was significant as the occupants walked away, (9:50 on). The new Defender is 'crash-worthy', if there is such a thing. The original Defender is more like a Coke can in comparison.

JLR is a business first and foremost - they do not see much margin in a utility/farm truck, and the sales of the old vs new Defender suggest that their marketeers were right; they have sold a lot of new Defenders. The jury is still out on whether Ineos Automotive ever becomes a sustainable business, the bills have been huge and the returns both slow and fitful.

If IA can play the long game, I'm hopeful there is a sustainable demand for a rugged non-luxury 4WD, but other than upgrades and spares, they are unlikely to get much more money from me.
